Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

:tibor: I think the only bad play that Fleury made during the game was when he allowed the tying goal by going behind the net. I do not think you can blame him for whiffing on the Foligno goal because that was one hell of a wrist shot and it probably came totally unexpected.

I think you have to give some credit to the opposing players for your big stars not giving what they have give all season because this is not the regular season.
That OT goal was soft as hell

Cindy looked like that last year against Boston too.

Honestly - during the game Monday I noticed he was floating on defense and not really getting engaged. He already doesn't play a lot of PK time. Makes you wonder.

He and Malkin are getting absolutely nothing from their wingers. The offense is coming from the blue line. Paul Martin
leads the playoffs in points. They are fantastic talents, but when they're the only threats on the ice, good defensive teams like Boston and Columbus can shadow them and not have much else to worry about.

I'm not making excuses here, I'm giving credit to the Jackets. Although Foligno's shot was nothing spectacular. It was a horrible display of goaltending, just like the Dubinsky goal. Jackets still deserve credit for putting the puck in the net though.

yeah - at the same time, Scuderi's legs are done. The guy isn't moving as well as he used too. Orpik is having issues as well.

it's not all on MAF - while the OT goal was horribad and he had zero reason to even try to play that puck late in the 3rd, he was both the good and the bad reasons that game even went into OT. Had he not been as sharp as he was through the 2nd and in the beginning of the 3rd I think the CBJ win that in regulation.

This has been a weird series. I think even if the Pens win you're going to see some serious changes.

Scuderi and Orpik are horrible. They're two reasons I want Bylsma gone. He refuses to ice the best lineup. Bortuzzo and Despres are both better options defensively and physically.

Anyways, the Jackets have some young playoff beasts. Johansen, Calvert and Jenner have really stood out. Dubinsky and Johnson too, but the first three are super impressive considering their ages.

I'm starting to have some of the same issues with Babcock, although it's more on the GM because he keeps wasting cap space on guys like Danny Cleary and Mikael Samuelsson, not to mention the ridiculous contract to Jimmy Howard.

Savard has been good too. As has Skille.

Wonder if it has to do with the amount of concussions he's already suffered? I guess we'll really find out what Pittsburgh has left in this next game. IMO, it's make or break for Pittsburgh in Game 5.

8 games in the playoffs without a goal for sid and 7 for geno. It's nothing Columbus is doing they have struggled for quite some time now in the playoffs. You go back to 2009 and geno was taking over games and the same goes for sid. Now it's consistently players like dupuis, martin, niskanen, Bennett or other role players stepping up. Your best players have to be your best players in the playoffs no excuses. It's what I see out of Jack Johnson or chara and for the last three years not so much with sid and geno.

Also fleury needs to stop a wrist shot from the top of the circles. Good shot but that should be routine.

I think we can all agree Pittsburgh is by far the more talented but as far as effort, doing the small things, and grinding things out Columbus is doing great.

Columbus very well may win the series but IMO it will be because Pittsburgh didn't play to their potential not because Columbus all the sudden became more talented.

The best thing that Columbus can do is to keep things close enough that Pittsburgh continues to think fleury is the answer. If they score two quick goals tomorrow and vokoun comes in I think the pens could rally around that like last year

That's great. the NHL Playoffs are very rarely about talent - if it was about talent Detroit would have won every Stanley Cup from 1993 through 2006.

It's about heart, effort and doing the dirty work and that is one thing the Penguins haven't done a lot of since 2009.
