NHL officially reschedules postponed Stars-Blue Jackets game

The NHL has officially announced on Sunday that the postponed March 10 game between the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets will be rescheduled for April 9.

The game was initially postponed when Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench. He was rushed to the hospital and treated for a cardiac event, while the league postponed the game due to the emotional duress suffered by players on both sides.

Here's part of the release from the Stars:

The original game, which was halted at 6:23 of the first period due to a medical emergency involving Stars forward Rich Peverley, will be played for a full 60 minutes of regulation time, plus any potential overtime and shootout.

The rescheduled contest will begin with the Blue Jackets ahead, 1-0 -- the score at the time play was stopped Monday. A goal will be credited to Nathan Horton, with assists to Matt Calvert and James Wisniewski. All other statistics will be expunged.

FWIW, Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley had surgery Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic to correct an abnormal heart rhythm, but no decision has been made about whether he will play hockey again.
At the least, Peverley is out for the rest of this season.
The 31-year-old Peverley is in "normal sinus rhythm," and was released from the clinic Wednesday, according to a statement by Stars general manager Jim Nill. Peverley is expected to return to Dallas on Thursday.

Anybody know exactly what the surgery was?

My guess (and it is just a guess) is Robotically Assisted Atrial Fibrillation Surgery
During the robotically assisted ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm that begins in the upper chambers of the heart), the surgeon’s hands control the movement and placement of the endoscopic instruments to open the pericardium (thin sac that surrounds the heart). The instruments are used to precisely place the catheter for ablation, in which energy is applied to correct the abnormal heart rhythm.
See: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/heart/disorders/mini_invasivehs.aspx

Cardiac ablation is a procedure that is used to destroy small areas in your heart that may be causing your heart rhythm problems.

Rick Nash looks forward to return to Nationwide

Rick Nash said playing his first game back at Nationwide Arena on Friday night will be one of the highlights of his career, up there with his playoff-clinching goal for the Blue Jackets in 2009 and the two Olympic gold medals he has won with Canada.

“How many games did I play for Columbus, 680?” said Nash, a New York Rangers forward. (It was 674 games, a franchise record.) “I was the face of the franchise, the first overall pick (in 2002), the captain. I’d be lying to myself if I said it would be like any other game. It’s definitely going to be a special night.”

The Blue Jackets play at the Montreal Canadiens tonight, so Nash and the Rangers — who won 8-4 in Ottawa on Tuesday before flying to Columbus — will by lying in wait.

Nash hasn’t played at Nationwide Arena since the July 2012 trade because the Blue Jackets and Rangers didn’t play last season and Nash missed a game on Nov. 7 at Nationwide because of a concussion.

“It’s a different situation,” Nash said. “Most guys get traded, and it seems like they’re right back there playing with their new team in a few weeks. For me it’s been so long (since the trade) that it’s lost some of the feeling for me. What’s it been, a year and six months? A year and eight months? It’ll be fun to be back in Nationwide. It’s been so long since I’ve been there.”
