Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Nash went from having 80% of the crowd clapping and thanking him to having about 95% of the crowd hating him in about 15 seconds :slappy:

BTW the Rags completely destroyed them in just about every facet except for fight wins. they were lucky Bob had a good game because it should've been 5-1.

Nash shoves Bobrovsky after whistle, scrum ensues

Sergei Bobrovsky looked to be all smiles as he pushed Rick Nash‘s stick aside after a whistle, and it didn’t look like Nash was particularly fond of that.

A scuffle broke out late in the second period of Friday’s game between the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets. Nash had a scoring chance and was stopped by Bobrovsky, who then pushed Nash’s stick aside as the Rangers’ forward went to pick it up. Nash then gave Bobrovsky a shove, which earned him a minor penalty and caused a massive pile-up of bodies near the end boards.

There were three penalties called on the play – to Nash, and coincidental roughing minors to the Rangers’ Chris Kreider and Blue Jackets’ Artem Anisimov. Earlier in the evening, the Blue Jackets paid tribute to Nash, who was playing in Columbus for the first time since getting traded to New York.

There was a play right before Nash's no-goal where Bob shoved his stick into the back of Nash's leg. Likely the reason why Bob was laughing in his face. I thought the whole sequence of events was awesome.

I was afraid of this. No leadership on this team and the Rangers took all the wind out of the Jackets sails. Detroit, Pitt, Colorado, Philly. All of those games in the next week or so and this team might be in the basement by the end of the season. Going to need a miracle. Again, every team in this race got better at the deadline and the Jackets just dumped some salary. Not exactly brimming with confidence in this front office.

They dumped a guy who wasn't coming back after the season was over anyway and kept their young core together. Davidson said back in January when this team was white hot that they were well ahead of expectations. 2015 was the goal for this group as it was even back in January.

That said, I think they've run out of gas. A lot of these guys that were carrying them in January and the beginning of March after the Olympic break have played a ton of hockey that they may not have mentally been prepared for - games 50 through 70 are a grind and if you don't come out of that grind all the way healthy and rested, those last 12 games can be a real bear and we are seeing that now I think.

Patience.

So, maybe next year. Again.

It was going to be next year regardless. Look at the results against Boston, Pittsburgh and Chicago. They are in the playoff race because teams 5 through 12 are basically built the same way in the East (or incredibly old in Detroit's case).

They need another top flight forward to even out the power plays and probably another top-4 d-man before this team is a realistic playoff team.

If you're going to give up on them now after how long you've waited for them to be merely competent, I think you are going to miss out on a run of several good to very good years in the near future. From Richards to Jarmo to Davidson, you have one of the best front offices and they are going at it the right way so the success is sustainable and not a one shot for an 8th seed like it was a few years ago.
