With the No. 14 pick of the 2013 NHL Draft, the Blue Jackets select center Alexander Wennberg from Djugarden of the J20 SuperElit and HockeyAllsvenskan.

Wennberg spent the season in the second-highest level of Swedish hockey, putting up 32 points in 46 games for Djugardens. He also spent a little time with their junior club. He also put up three points in six games for Sweden's silver medal winning team at the 2013 World Junior Championships.

The Nacka, Sweden native is ranked No. 15 by ISS among all skaters. NHL Central Scouting has him rated No. 5 among European skaters, while TSN's Craig Button has him ranked No. 12 among all prospects.

A tall and rangy player who has turned three-zone into his calling card. Alex has nice, soft hands and a sense for when the time’s ripe for a pass or a shot. He displays good anticipation and in-game intelligence. Despite a still somewhat lanky frame, Alex has some good wheels and strong side-to-side movement. Doesn’t hesitate to throw the body around and plays with a sense of great responsibility for his defensive duties. A player who can compliment all sorts of line-mates. His frame is the type that looks like it could house another 20-30 pounds within the next five years. He has already played 50 games of pro hockey in a men’s league and spent this past year making top 6 offensive contributions. Alex is the type of kid who can do a little bit of everything while also playing with a chip on his shoulder. Heading to Frolunda of the SEL for the 13/14 season.

Columbus Blue Jackets: A+
The Jackets made the most of three first-round picks, adding skill and hockey sense in Alexander Wennberg. I had him rated as my No. 11 prospect, and he is an excellent, complete player. Kerby Rychel brings big-time grit and toughness with an excellent net presence and the willingness to get dirty to score goals like ex-Red Wing Tomas Holmstrom. Marko Dano was their third first-round selection and was, in my opinion, a forgotten player somewhat, having played in the KHL. Add 6-foot-3 D-man Dillon Heatherington from the WHL and fellow westerner Oliver Bjorkstrand, who has high-end skill, and you have the makings of a very nice class.

You can relax, Columbus, Sergei Bobrovsky is coming back to the Blue Jackets.

On Monday morning, the Blue Jackets announced that they have come to an agreement with the Vezina Trophy-winning goalie from the past season. The deal is for just two years and $11.25 million according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch. That works out to an annual average salary of $5.625 million.

Good. He really needed to stay here.

Given the division they are going into and what they are bringing back, the goal has to be making the playoffs and making a run at the division championship.

I think a trade may still be in the works somewhere though.

Awesome draft, plus they practically stole a pick from Pittsburgh, PLUS they signed Bob to a 2 year deal. Great day for the Jackets.

One thing is for sure. No one fucks with the Jackets' boss.

Jarmo is the fucking man. They couldn't have done better for a GM.

Just wait, he's only be on the job for less than a year. When he gets his system, scouting and coaches all in place throughout the CBJ system, it will look entirely different than it has for the past decade.
