Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

If they lose Bob it would be classic Blue Jackets.

That's not a slam as there isn't anything management could have done differently if he decides to bolt for mother Russia.

They knew that the KHL was going to throw the bank at him so hopefully they have prepared for this (if it's true).

Back to square one if they lose Bobrovsky.

It's a tricky predicament, and I think Aaron Portzline had a great article on it yesterday. From the Jackets perspective the past 3 years Bob has been good, bad and then great. So what will they get next year? Then they can't compete with the KHL money, or promise to be the Russian Olympic Goalie, if thats part of the caveat. But in the end, this is the best league in the world, and he's just been named top goalie in that league.

Hope it all works out, because it feels like the Jackets are just hitting the corner to being a pretty decent team.

Bob's gone. There's no way he's coming back if he hasn't signed by now.

Why? There are plenty of FAs who are still unsigned all over the league, including Anisimov on the Jackets. And I tend to think that if the KHL really offered him $10 million and he wants to go, that he'd already be there because he has nothing to consider over here.

This is all posturing.

The Blue Jackets did reach out to Kipper. They've also asked about Jonas Gustavsson from Detroit....it's clear to me that they are preparing for life after Bob.

I believe he has to wait to July 5th for the KHL deal. Might be wrong.

There's really no way of telling if he's leaving or not. I don't think he will be leaving. They can threaten him with the Olympic thing all they want, but if he's the best Russian goalie when the Olympics come around, they'll come calling regardless. It's all about leverage. Bob has it right now, but the Jackets actually have good management and a nice team around him.

The Jackets are reaching out to other goalies because they do not have an NHL caliber backup. Kipper has one year left on his contract. He isn't going to replace Bob.

MAF won't be bought out, either.

And Anisimov just signed a 3 year, $9.85 million deal. Really, really good deal for the Jackets.
