umberger out indefinitely with a concussion.....seriously what more could happen to this team?

Knee injuries, pucks to the face, skates that cut someone in the jugular....concussions suck but it's not completely out of the realm.

This isn't the first go-around for Umby either.

on a side note, is it me, or have there been more concussions since the nhl became more anal about hits to the head?

The NHL's hand was more or less forced, with guys having serious issues that were traced to concussions sustained while in the NHL. Really every sport by the MLB and the NBA have had to do it, even the pro/fake wrestlers.

I don't think the Jackets will ever trade Nash. He's said he is in it for the long hull and wants to be here. He wants to do what LeBron would never do...and that's go through the tough times before winning. The organization knows that if they get rid of Nash, the majority of Columbus will lose interest real fast and the whole organization will crumple. Personally I'd love to see Nash at least play for a Stanley Cup at some point; he deserves it.

I think one of the biggest we've had since day 1 as a team has been the goalie. The one year Mason was a freak on the ice we went to the playoffs. If we could just get a solid goalie that only gave up around 2 goals per game (1.9-2.1), we'd win a lot more games. Obviously there are multiple problems with the whole organization, but i think if the players saw some results on the ice they would play alot harder.

In other news, congrats to Ryan Johansen for being selected as an NHL Rookie All-Star!

The organization won't crumble if they traded Nash. There would be shock, and the season in which he's traded would be lost, but this season is already there.

This is a franchise that has never put it together. One year they can't score, one year they can't play defense, one year their goalies couldn't stop me.

This year is one in which all 3 happened at the same time.

BTW EVERY team wants a goalie that can be in the 1.9-2.1 GAA  there are only like 6 goalies in the entire league with that average or better. If you said something more realistic like 2.1-2.3 it would make more sense. scoring 3 goals per game is the key to success if you can have the league average GAA.

They actually looked pretty good tonight. Brassard looked fantastic. He was confident with the puck and active all over the ice. Paid off with a goal. Nash also looked good. I was impressed with David Savard. Nikitin had some.. interesting.. plays, but he's still turning out to be a good addition. Sanford was beast despite the three goals.

One of the more exciting games I've been to at Nationwide.

I was very impressed with the game last night...the team as a whole played very well together. The most impressive part is that did that with the bulk of the top players out because of injury. After reading the article from ESPN this morning, this all might be because of the coaching change. Brassard said ""I just had fun on the ice. When I have fun and I can play my game, I think I can be pretty effective. That's what I did tonight. I didn't do anything different. I felt like I had trust from my teammates and coach. I just started to play my game and everything went fine." We know Arniel was not a fan of Brassard at all, and now with that monkey off his back Brassard feels like he can play again.

Maybe the whole team is starting to feel that same way about it all. I'd like to start seeing the Blue Jackets win more, but at the same time I'd like to see us wrap up the #1 pick. Not like we have anything else to play for this season.

Seriously.
It would be just like this team to play with their hair on fire for the second half of the season and end up with the number 5 pick in the draft or something.

Fucking lose out and get a difference maker. I'm going to be pissed if they don't have the top pick in the draft this year. That is LITERALLY the only good thing that could come out of this season.
