They could've made it interesting.. JF Jacques got tossed for an ugly elbow on Umberger (Jacques should get 5+ games for it). It was 6-4 for a 5 minute PP. They shit down their leg, which isn't surprising.

Mason was fucking terrible in this game. What's new.

The game on New Years Eve against the Caps, this asshat in front of me was saying trade Mason... What's the use? No one wants a player tanking. Maybe a Carolina or Anaheim for a future pick? Other than that, does he have any value?

No. He's paid like an average starter and he's worse than pretty much every goalie in the NHL (starter or not).

Well took at least a month longer than it should have. Maybe since they knew no one was going to turn this shitty, gutless team around they kept him on through the holidays just to be nice to him. :ohwell:

I guess as a Blue Jackets fan I don't follow the intricacies of the game, but why can't Mason be sent down to the minors? I mean, it's clear that, even though he wouldn't start for anyone else, that Sanford is the #1 at this point. Bring up someone to back him up and send Steve to the minors.

The kid is a mess. I mean, it's painful to watch at this point. I feel bad for the kid.

So again, is there a reason he isn't sent down?

By the way, happiest guy in Columbus right now is Scott Arniel.:biggrin:

He can be sent down, they just don't have anyone else resembling an NHL goaltender in the organization. Pretty sure Dekanich is still hurt (he was supposed to be 1b beside Mason this year).

I guess it could be argued that Mason doesn't resemble an NHL goaltender either, but he's getting paid like one, so.. :p

The kid has all the tools...just not mentally strong. What does it say about the state of the organization when your best bet between the pipes is a career journeyman in Sanford. I think Mason's psyche is so shot that the only way for him to move forward is with another club.
