What a come back! Rick Nash played some GREAT hockey tonight... He was all over the place. Although this team has struggled, it seems as though they are the team with more energy, and are getting to the puck... It's only a matter of time before this energy pays off.

Raffi Torres celebrates Manny Malhotra's winning goal off a rebound with 1:09 left.

Raffi Torres stood at the penalty box door last night, waiting for his two-minute sentence for slashing to expire. The Blue Jackets winger had a good view of the mayhem on the ice, and he was poised to jump back into the action when the door sprung open.
"I was dying in there the entire two minutes," Torres said.
What followed was a 24-second snapshot that described a frantic evening in Nationwide Arena, in which the Blue Jackets led by two goals, trailed by two goals and ended up winning 5-4 over the Edmonton Oilers in front of a crowd of 11,228.

Steve Mason's first NHL game was a winning one. He made 22 saves, and the Blue Jackets rallied past the Oilers for a 5-4 victory.

Blue Jackets goaltender Steve Mason said he was a bit rusty last night in Nationwide Arena.
Can't imagine why? Since last April, Mason has played three minor-league games and had two knee surgeries. That's not a ratio any goalie wants to carry into his NHL debut.
Mason, 20, fought through some shaky moments and maintained his composure long enough for the Jackets to rally past the Edmonton Oilers for a 5-4 victory. Mason made 22 saves, including a huge stop through traffic on a Lubomir Visnovsky point shot with 38 seconds remaining, to record his first win.

Good win, but I find it very concerning that we dominate game after game and still end up down a goal or two in the third period. Roloson looked like shit last night and we still missed on so many good opportunities. We should have had 8 goals last night, and the shorties are just friggin rediculous.

Blue Jackets: Dad didn't have to push Brassard

Friday, November 7, 2008 6:00 AM
By Aaron Portzline

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Pierre Brassard could hear the noise emanating from the basement of the family's home in Hull, Quebec. It would go on for hours.
"It was 'tick, tick, tick' all the time," he said. "It would drive the people upstairs, in the rest of the house, absolutely nuts."
But Brassard can laugh now about how his son, Derick, would chase a golf ball across a concrete floor with a miniature, novelty hockey stick when he was a young boy.

Blue Jackets notebook: Picard placed on waivers

Friday, November 7, 2008 3:08 AM
By Tom Reed

The Columbus Dispatch

Alexandre Picard sat in the middle of the Nassau Coliseum visitors' locker room Monday and spoke about his uncertain future.

Four years ago, the Blue Jackets forward was the No. 8 overall pick in the NHL draft. But as veteran teammates were getting healthy, Picard understood the prospect of being placed on waivers loomed.

The Powerplay won't work if they keep letting themselves be pushed to the boards. Teams will let you pass it all day long around the perimeter when no one is even attempting to get to the center of the ice.....
