The Islanders' Bill Guerin scores a goal against Blue Jackets goalie Fredrik Norrena to give New York a 2-0 lead in the second period.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock might have jinxed himself yesterday morning as he spoke about his team's improving health.
"This is the first time we've had everyone except (goaltender Pascal Leclaire) available for a game," Hitchcock said. "We've got some really balanced lines right now."
The Jackets' run of good health lasted about three hours.
Rookie center Derick Brassard, the Jackets' leading scorer, missed last night's game after developing flulike symptoms and defenseman Rostislav Klesla sat out because of a wrist injury.

If Mason plays at a level consistent with an NHL starting goalie, does LeClaire become a trade piece?
a la carey price/maf. maybe. that being said if the right offer is on the table...take it. it is no secret as you know hitch likes a netminder who can handle the puck. mike hard to say, depends on the offer. to the wings-youd have to overpay, vastly...

if that makes sense (this is my personal thought on what theyd think not what i know or what i personally think)

Not thinking the Wings really - I was thinking more along the lines of someone like Philly or New Jersey or maybe even somewhere like Toronto :paranoid:

I'm sure LeClaire would get a return. Norrena is steady enough that he could prove a steady presence to help the kid adjust.

I guess we'll see during the back to back if he is ready.

NEAL C. LAURON Dispatch
Defenseman Marc Methot has consistently carried the puck through traffic this season and also has contributed two goals and two assists.

It didn't have the anger of Kellen Winslow Jr.'s "soldier" tirade. It wasn't as memorable as Allen Iverson's "practice" rant. And it won't go down with Jim Mora's incredulous question: "Playoffs?"
But in the relative quiet of the Blue Jackets dressing room, Marc Methot's strong words about a month ago during training camp created quite the aftershock in Nationwide Arena.
Methot, when asked about looming final roster cuts and the prospects of being claimed off waivers by another club, said:

Highly rated Mason will help Norrena shoulder workload

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

That didn't take long.
After making only three professional starts, goaltender Steve Mason -- considered one of the top prospects in hockey -- was recalled yesterday by the Blue Jackets from minor-league Syracuse.
Mason will not start tonight when the Blue Jackets play host to the Edmonton Oilers in Nationwide Arena, coach Ken Hitchcock said. That task will fall to Fredrik Norrena, making his fifth straight start in place of injured Pascal Leclaire.
