Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman both D.
two relatively big mobile defensemen. you may remeber backman from his blues days. 6-4 210lbs 5 year vet (pretty much all with the blues) decent at getting the puck out of the zone, good poise. #4-5 defencemen. wroth 18 pts from the back end. 2.3m cap hit, ufa next year.Jeff Rimmer just announced on 1460 that Zherdev and Fritsche are on their way to the NY Rangers for two guys I've never heard of.

i say dont use espn. please please plase. tsn folks. dont use espn for hockey info. And 2 more left-handers at that (according to ESPN bios) ... Very interested to hear JO's take on this move...
i said i thought youd see healthy turnover (i said what 5-8 new faces) the team is finding an identity. big, rough, rugged, defense and goaltenders. oh yeah if you dont have pazzy and you play in a fantasy league, this maybe the time to take him...WTF?
This is looking more and more like a team transformation than anything else...
This is a lot of turnover from last year's team already and I seriously don't believe they are anywhere near done yet.

they are both left shots. tsn=gold standard imoActually, it may have been USA today or something, whatever came up on a Google search for their bios -- but TSN says they're both lefties too, which I found interesting after you listed all our lefty Dmen earlier.

The Blue Jackets have traded wingers Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche to the New York Rangers for defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman, The Dispatch has learned.
Both Tyutin, 24, and Backman, 28, are regarded as puck-moving defensemen, able to pass the puck out of the defensive zone and play the point on a power-play unit. Tyutin had five goals, 15 assists and a plus-5 rating in 82 games with the Rangers last season, while Backman had three goals, 15 assists and a minus-2 rating in 63 games with St. Louis and New York.
Tyutin is signed through the next four seasons. He?ll make $2.250 this season. Backman will make $3.4 million this season and will be an unrestricted free agent next summer.
