Perhaps you should start watching more movies and not the CBJ:biggrin:
The rest of us would like to see them in the playoffs.

I'd love to see them in the playoffs. Generaly most of the time I watch the CBJ on FSN in ohio. I get so mad and yell at the TV that I scare the hell out of LadyB and her children.

yeah keep watching movies so the CBJ can be the 8th seed and I can get tickets to watch them and the Wings :groove:

Nikolai Zherdev has lots of reasons to smile after finding a happy medium on and off the ice this season with the Blue Jackets.

Almost nothing Nikolai Zherdev does with the puck surprises his Blue Jackets teammates.
He can stick-handle it through defenders. He can rush it from goal line to goal line. He can fire it with deceptive velocity, the backswing of his wrist shot as compact as the stroke of a 3-foot putt.

NHL notebook
Foote forced his way out, sources say

Sunday, March 2, 2008 3:21 AM
By Aaron Portzline

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Blue Jackets have had four captains since they joined the NHL in 2000. They're still searching for their first good one.
Defenseman Adam Foote seemed to be the guy, especially this season when the stifling presence of president and general manager Doug MacLean was swept away by his offseason firing and Foote was allowed to truly run the dressing room.
But the events of Tuesday, the NHL's trade deadline day, sent a chill through the entire Blue Jackets organization, and Foote is now seen as more fraud than leader.

Zherdev seeks some love from Russia
Acrimonious split could keep him off national team

By Tom Reed and Aaron Portzline

The Columbus Dispatch

Blue Jackets right winger Nikolai Zherdev wants to play for a Russian team.

Not in an Alexander Svitov kind of way, mind you.
Svitov left the Jackets in the offseason to return to Russian club hockey. Zherdev only longs for a chance to represent the national team in events such as the world championships and Olympics.

Blue Jackets notebook
Tarnstrom making impact

The Columbus Dispatch
EDMONTON, Alberta -- Surrounded by Blue Jackets teammates and reunited with his small sons, all was right with Dick Tarnstrom yesterday in the visitors' locker room.

Funny what a difference one month and the distance between two Rexall Place locker rooms can make.
As a member of the Edmonton Oilers, Tarnstrom was becoming an afterthought in the franchise's plans. But with the Jackets, the 33-year-old defenseman is playing and contributing regularly.

Jackets overmatched in shootout

Oilers goalie Mathieu Garon makes a save on a shot by the Blue Jackets' Rick Nash.

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Ken Hitchcock's clubs are defined by tight checking, teamwork and a grease monkey's willingness to get dirty by going into the hard areas.
Which, of course, is the very antithesis of the shootout. It's all about skill, sizzle and one-on-one showdowns.
Other than Nikolai Zherdev, the Jackets aren't too successful in this competition -- and it could wind up costing them a playoff spot.
Despite outplaying the Edmonton Oilers, the Jackets lost a 4-3 decision in a shootout in Rexall Place. Ales Hemsky beat goalie Pascal Leclaire with a rising wrist shot for the only goal of the session.

Jackets notebook: Northwest great for Hitchcock
He does charity work, visits family on Canada trip
Monday, March 3, 2008 2:51 AM
By Tom Reed

The Columbus Dispatch

EDMONTON, Alberta -- They say charity starts at home.
Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock is a subscriber to that way of thinking, and that's why he spent Saturday morning attending functions for three charities of which he's a part.
The Edmonton-area native works with organizations dedicated to minor sports, mentorship and community development.
"We're so busy with the team when we get to town," Hitchcock said. "So I get up early and do everything in the mornings."

The wife is suspicious.
"Come to bed," she says.
"What are you doing?" she says.
"Turn that thing off," she says.
"Be right there," I say, hitting the browser refresh button one more time.
And then in an almost silent whisper ... "Right after I see how the Jackets do on this power play."
This is what Blue Jackets fans have waited for since the franchise opened shop in 2000. The chance to stay up late watching a TV or computer screen to monitor the progress of a West Coast game in March.

CALGARY, Alberta -- For five seasons, Blue Jackets left winger Rick Nash has allowed his game to do the talking.
Most players only wish they could be as eloquent.
But the unassuming Nash, who chooses words as carefully as some choose cars, believes it's time to speak up.

CALGARY, Alberta -- No father can simulate the pains of childbirth.
Blue Jackets forward Jiri Novotny might have come as close as any.
On Thursday night, Novotny was enjoying a late-night dinner in Vancouver with teammates Rostislav Klesla and David Vyborny when he got a call from his wife, Zuzana.

Damn it!!! Fuck Kiprusoff. 39 shots on goal and we get shutout 1-0. We played with high intensity and had some really good looks at the net. Our powerplay is pitiful... especially that 5 on 3. What did we get, maybe one shot on goal during that minute and a half two man advantage? Games like this make me sick.

Nikolai Zherdev of the Blue Jackets fires a shot wide of the net as Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff stretches for the puck.

CALGARY, Alberta -- Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock understood that no single voice would replace Adam Foote's in the locker room.
What he didn't realize was how many others would make theirs heard after Foote was traded Feb. 26.
Not only are Rick Nash, Michael Peca and Fredrik Modin speaking up, Hitchcock said, but players such as Rostislav Klesla, Ron Hainsey and Manny Malhotra are emerging as second-tier leaders.

Goaltender Pascal Leclaire has had an incredible season. If he finishes like he started, the Jackets aren't out of it yet.

If it's reasonable to assume that the Blue Jackets need 92 points, minimum, to qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs, it's also reasonable to assume it's a tall task for them to amass 22 points in the final 14 games. But as long journeys begin with a single step, so are big challenges best divided into smaller, more palatable portions:
