Blue Jackets goalie Pascal Leclaire, watching the Oilers' Geoff Sanderson and Allan Rourke celebrate a goal on Monday, left the game in the second period because of a hamstring injury.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Pascal Leclaire has been the Blue Jackets' best player during the team's franchise-best start to a season, so the goaltender's injured right hamstring remained a hot topic yesterday.
The Blue Jackets are sticking to their story that it's a day-to-day injury.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Blue Jackets defenseman Duvie Westcott likely suffered yet another concussion Saturday, ruling him out of the club's short-term plans and calling into question his NHL future.

VANCOUER, British Columbia -- The Blue Jackets' Ron Hainsey is 10th among NHL defensemen in scoring this season.
To put that in perspective, Hainsey, with 15 points, is three behind Chris Pronger, tied with Ed Jovanovski and ahead of players such as Wade Redden, Kimmo Timonen and Bryan McCabe.

CALGARY, Alberta -- In the middle of the Canadian prairie, the Blue Jackets have come to a crossroads.
After a 2-0 loss Thursday to the Vancouver Canucks and again before practice yesterday in the Pengrowth Saddledome, coach Ken Hitchcock challenged his players.
"You can live on, 'Boy, we're playing good. It's just a matter of time,' " Hitchcock said. "Or, in my opinion, you can live in the reality.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
CALGARY, Alberta -- On Thursday, after the NHL games were completed, Canadian cable channel TSN aired last year's world junior championship between the United States and Canada.
One of the most noticeable players was defenseman Kris Russell, who played every other shift, skated freely with the puck and was in full control.
Russell wore No. 10 in those days. He wears No. 2 now for the Blue Jackets, but that's not the only difference.

Blue Jackets' Vyborny not producing

Two words that David Vyborny apparently doesn't understand: Contract year.
Vyborny, who will be an unrestricted free agent, has only two goals and a team-worst minus-5, and his lack of production is one reason the Columbus Blue Jackets, who started strong, have gone 4-5-1 in their past 10 games.
Of course, Sergei Fedorov, with his $6.08 million contract, hasn't done mucbottle?"
Malarchuk: "If it was, I'd still be out there." h, either. He has five goals and is a minus-4.
OK, now the really bad news: Vyborny can't score on a 50-year-old, and the Columbus Dispatch was there to record this historic event.
Goalie coach Clint Malarchuk slipped on the pads at practice while the Blue Jackets were waiting for a backup from the minors. His big save: He stopped Vyborny from 2 feet.
A quick exchange afterward:
Reporter: "Was that beer in the Gatorade bottle?"
Malarchuk: "If it was, I'd still be out there."

Nikolai Zherdev celebrates the team's fourth goal against the Avalanche.
The Blue Jackets were booed off the ice after the second period last night.
And it only got worse when they made it to the dressing room.
Coach Ken Hitchcock, who rarely resorts to intermission shouting, tore into his players with a wakeup call that could not be reproduced in a family publication.
The results say it all.

Jackets notebook: Fritsche keeps things jumping in third period

CHRIS RUSSELL Dispatch
The Blue Jackets' Rick Nash, lower right, scores his second goal of the game during the third period.
A child of the Ohio snow belt, Blue Jackets forward Dan Fritsche has never understood why Columbus becomes so driving impaired at the first sign of snow.
"The ride took forever to get to the rink this morning and I don't live that far from here," said Fritsche, a Parma native.
