Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Final score: Nashville 4 - Columbus 1

You would think it was a road game the way the Jackets played. They stared out slow in the 1st period, slowly "petered out" in the 2nd, and died in the 3rd.

New this year:
a. They have full size "goal" cannon that they shoot off when the Jackets score. Nice feature.
b. They started off with some intoduction video and spot light on the ice called "Carry the Flag". It sucked.

My $5 parking lot was gone. However, I did find a $6 parking garage on Vine Street. It was right beside Gibby's Restaurant & Bar, which is where I ate before the game. Gibby's is a nice little "sports bar" etc. The garage is fairly close to the arena and it was easy to get out of after the game.

I truly dislike Chris Mason.

The refs really swallowed the whistle tonight.

I felt like was at a commercial and a hockey game broke out.

One of the chicks that wears near nothing to clean the ice during breaks really needs to shave her Trail of Happiness. That was bushiest belly I've ever seen.

My 9 year old now knows the givaways at these events are rigged. "Dad, how did the girls know to be at that section for the ball game?" (roullette)

The IDG blimp is pretty cool

$7.00 for an Amber Bock is insane.

On to the game. The Jackets truly out skated the Preds tonight. But the stick skillz were horrid. I thought for a moment, Bellasari was playing. Every pass seem to be aimed at a guy wearing blue. The Jackets missed dozens of chances tonight, and deserved to lose this one.

7-8 years ago, or maybe even 5 years ago, Fedorov puts that wide open shot into the back of the net instead of up in the netting....

He might be close to being out of the league right now. That was horrid and completely killed any momentum the Jackets had after that. A 2-2 game is much different than what it turned out to be.

Notebook: Injury has Peca in waiting room

Wednesday, November 14, 2007 3:36 AM
By Tom Reed

The Columbus Dispatch

As the Blue Jackets encounter their first adverse stretch, the player acquired in the offseason to help lead them in times of trouble can only watch from the sideline.
Center Michael Peca will miss his third consecutive game tonight because of a pulled groin. Peca has yet to resume skating and experienced some pain yesterday while working out on a slide board, which simulates the skating motion.

Blue Jackets fans, brace for wild ride
Learning curve for team's style full of highs, lows

By Aaron Portzline

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Blue Jackets fans dejected by a 0-3-1 swoon might want to brace themselves for a wild ride.
The season could be filled with surprising highs, like the 8-3-2 start, and frustrating lows, like the 4-1 loss Monday to the Nashville Predators that had 2003-04 written all over it.
Here's the theory: The Blue Jackets, despite years of picking high in the draft, have fewer dynamic players than just about any other club in the Western Conference, save Phoenix.

Basically he is saying the Blue Jackets (i.e. Doug McClain) haven't drafted worth SHIT.

Its a fight. No reason for any suspension. He was on the ice when it started and wasn't the trird man in. It would be just the same as if it happened at the end of a period. He gets the 5 minute major on the the stat sheet and we all go happily ever after.

possible late fight instigation, typically given to the team who is losing automatic one game and 10k fine to the coach. dont see it happening vandemeer might get it doubt nash will, i didnt see much of that fight i was watching rock em sock em robots in the stands? anyone else catch that?

also you had players leave the bench? will they get slammed for that? then never left the "bench area" so i doubt it but who knows

Fuckin' awesome! :banger:

We spent the first couple periods in 102 (where the fight was) but we were over in 116, directly across from the action, for the third period. Looked like a fat drunk CBJ fan was being a bitch and going after a couple of Blackhawk fans. Looked to me like they were just fighting back out of necessity. Hope the instigator enjoys the hangover that will be his morning. Dumbass!

Solid game last night. Jackets win, a couple good fights on the ice, a small brawl in the stands. Good times!
