Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Looked to me like last years team playing last night. The hard work that has been so successful this year wasn't evident last night.

That and Chicago would have killed an old lady to get a win last night. They were playing balls out.

granted i didnt get to see it as i was working late.

You didn't miss much. Chicago carried the play with the notable exception of about a 3 minute span to open the third. By far the worst Columbus has looked this season.

Chicago really has a couple really good young ones in Toews and Kane.

this approach is no longer acceptable due to hitchcoach. you either won the game or lost the game, no excuses.

granted i didnt get to see it as i was working late.

I wasn't making excuses.

I'm saying they could have still won the game had they been able to play the entire 3rd period like they started it.....

It was a different team last night from the other nights however.

Hell I don't care, the Wings are 12-2-1 or something crazy like that :groove:

The Columbus Dispatch

DETROIT -- Barry Trotz says anyone who thinks the book on the Detroit Red Wings is to physically intimidate them is reading an outdated copy.
The Nashville Predators coach said the Red Wings, riding an eight-game winning streak heading into a game tonight against the Blue Jackets, have evolved into a tougher, more resilient bunch.

Mike Munden | Dispatch
Red Wings goalie Dominik Hasek returns from a hip injury to pose a stiff challenge to Jason Chimera, right, and the Blue Jackets tonight in Detroit.

Despite a forgettable 5-2 loss Wednesday to the Chicago Blackhawks, the Blue Jackets are one of the biggest surprises in the NHL this season.
So which is it: Are the Blue Jackets a force with which to be reckoned, or are they a supernova, burning brightly now but soon to be extinguished?
It will take a month or so to develop a firm read on the Blue Jackets, but a game tonight at the Detroit Red Wings could be an early gauge.

Keppin it close though and setting a benchmark. The Red Wings are IMO the best in the NHL. Give the CBJ 18:00 minutes and we will see who wins.

Outside of the last part (18 mins.), you're exactly right. Detroit must be the favorite for the cup at this point in the season. We have seven more opportunities!

DETROIT -- The improving Blue Jackets arrived in town hoping to use the Detroit Red Wings as a measuring stick.
The Western Conference's most dominant team was a ruler all right, and it came down firmly across the knuckles of the Blue Jackets.

Jackets notebook: Coach sees need to step up vs. Nashville

Saturday, November 10, 2007 3:35 AM
By Tom Reed

The Columbus Dispatch

Coach Ken Hitchcock isn't sure the word "rivalry" currently describes the Blue Jackets' meetings with the Nashville Predators.
Too often in recent seasons, the Blue Jackets have played the role of Cleveland Browns to the Predators' Pittsburgh Steelers.

I tell you what, when the CBJ tied it up at 1, I wasn't worried but I did take notice.

It was interesting to see the last period, although I have to view it this morning instead of last night (stupid work)......

Detroit is the best team in the NHL right now and they might be the best or at least the most complete NHL team to come along since the last good Detroit team in 2001-02. Losing 4-1 is a bit misleading if you ask me, considering that the Jackets had many opportunities but are a player or two short right now from getting there.

Hey last year this game probably isn't as close as 4-1. I know there aren't any moral victories, but the measurement from this game (seeing as everyone was calling it a measuring stick game), should show you guys that the CBJ are definitely on the right track.

I bought a couple $21 pp tickets to the game tonight on ebay. They are in the upper deck, first row, corner of the end zone. Let's hope I can find my usual cheap $5 parking (it is where the baseball stadium is being constructed), the ebay seller leaves the tickets at the will call for me, and that the Jackets win.

Getting ready to leave for the game. We usually eat down there before the game.
