Taosman believes in taking the lane! :tongue2:

I'm just not as young(or fast) as Fol. I can only do 19mph over 5 miles!
I had to change my gearing for the mountains I live in. Home sits at 7200ft.

This subject gets me crazy (er). One of my best friends and my original busines partners is a freeken vedgetable becasue some stupid bitch ran him over. 2 kids a wife and he is not fuctional as a human being. I wathed him in a coma for 4 weeks and was at his bed when he woke up. His brain was sheared off of his spinal column from the impact. He never recovered.
You might want to think that I have some very personal reasons to think that drivers are assholes that do not give a fuck about bikers just becasue they are surrounded by 2000 pounds of metal. The bitch never even said she was sorry.
Now back to your regular scheduled programming.

And Tao, I am pushing 50. I used to be fast. Frankly I have not been able to ride my bike since the accedent.

What good come out of riding your bike on a 45mph road? I'm not sure about the legality but that's just pure insanity. Olentangy River Road has curves and twists and if I'm going the speed limit and you're on a bike I could hit you coming around the corner.

It takes being a dedicated biker to fully understand how intimidating it can be out there amongst the 2000 pound metal monsters. A car makes even the most docile person into a raging lunatic! People just have no idea how crazy it can get.
But, the rewards of being out on a bike are hard to put in sheer words. It borders on orgasmic! Motorcycle riders experience a lot of the same feeling of freedom. I have had motorcycles for years, also!
And motorist need to understand that bicyclist share the road in most cases, LAWFULLY! Of coarse, bicyclist MUST obey the laws also!
Except for being on MAJOR highways!
End of rant! Carry on!

Ohio Bicycle Speed Limits.....
Ohio

sidewalks unless marked for exclusive use of pedestrians and bicycle paths

Usually, if a road is marked at a 55mph speed limit, bicyclist have EQUAL access, legally! YMPHMV

Legally I can have unprotected sex with a prostitute in Brazil. That doesn't mean it's a good idea. 35 mph and over roads are unsafe for bicycles. A busy 45mph road during rush hour isn't a safe place for a bike.

Point taken! I can go over 50mph down a hill on my bicycle but it's dangerous as hell!
I just wanted the C-bus crew to know what is LEGAL in Ohio.
Not what is SMART.

As a cyclist may I say FUCK YOU. I pay for the roads just like you do. If you don't like it, get on the fucking highway assholes. I have had shit thrown at me, been slugged, had doors opened, and had people try to kill me litterally. So before you all think that you are so tough and important behind the wheel of your cars, BIKES HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS CARS. Don't like it, write congress. Anyone want to tell me I should not be there, we can discuss in person if you like.

And Tao, can you be a bigger hypocrite??? You rant all fucking day about save the earth and you pimp bikes? If you don't walk the walk just shut the fuck up (half kidding). Just lost some respect there bro.

Aren't all road-worthy vehicles required to have license plates?

It is virtually impossible to get out and away from traffic without being on some type of higher speed or dangerous road. Bikes are ignored by road planners, engineers and municipalities when it comes to bike lanes and access. Even though they are vehicles, they are not planned for when in fact they should be.

A single bike rider should never be in certain situations or they are bound to get hit. It sounds like the situation that you were describing was one of them. But, there are some 55mph roads I have ridden on with a group. Other than a highway, I would ride just about anywhere in a large group of bikes because we are visable.

I people would have a motcum of patience this would never be an issue. I have ridden in Europe and watched the riders in NY do it all day long. Drivers integrate and it works fine. The issue here isn't anything other than it pisses cars off to be "inconvienced" by a bike.

No Thump but I think it is a good idea. It would make the yahoos at least recognize that the State of Ohio recognizes a bike as a vehicle. I think that most people do not understand that and think that cars have the right of way.

Besides, Tao could start a new biz for carbon and titanium plates.
