So what you are saying is the illiterate south cannot find tv stations with more than three letters?

Reason and facts don't seem to matter to some - but I'll keep bringing facts and reason to expose the unreasonable.

Fact: Map below shows % of state population at Literacy 1 Level (i.e. lowest level)

That limited the audience to cable subscribers only. That and that alone is why the ratings were affected. Using the ratings as a point of attack is BS! Complete and utter BS!

You might want to buy some new facts
ESPN said:
BRISTOL, Conn. -- The Tostitos BCS National Championship Game between Auburn and Oregon attracted the top overnight metered cable television rating ever.
The game drew a 16.1 overnight rating in its first year on ESPN. That's 12 percent less than the 18.2 rating Fox drew last year. ESPN is available in 15 percent fewer homes.
...
It is higher than the 14.4 rating ESPN drew for a Monday Night Football game last year between New England and New Orleans. That was the previous high. It is also higher than the 2008 and 2005 BCS title games.
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/01/alabama-lsu_produces_lowest_tv.html
The All-SEC affair, the first championship pairing teams from the same conference, drew a 14.0 rating on ESPN
The underwhelming Wisconsin-TCU matchup drew an 11.8 in 2011 on ESPN.

This year, fans weren't interested in seeing another Bielema BCS loss (and missed a wild shootout as a result), checking in under 10 on the rating scale.

You're right about facts not mattering to some - apparently that includes you. This year's BCS Title Game was NOT the first to be shown only on ESPN. Last year's Oregon-Auburn game was also on ESPN rather than ABC or any other network. The ratings for LSU-Bama were down 8% from the Auburn-Oregon game on ESPN the previous year, based on the overnight ratings.

Here's some advice from a BP Admin: tone down the rhetoric and stop the lecturing attitude if you want to retain the ability to post on this board.

And stop acting like every poster here has the same perspective and hates the SEC, rather than many of us just wanting to see fairness in the forthcoming 4-team playoff.

Delany: Non-division champs shouldn't make playoff

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany, who has floated ideas for how a four-team college football playoff should be set up, said Wednesday that any new format shouldn't include a team that doesn't win its division.
"I don't have a lot of regard for that team," Delany said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "I certainly wouldn't have as much regard for that team as I would for someone who played nine conference games in a tough conference and played a couple out-of-conference games on the road against really good opponents. If a poll doesn't honor those teams and they're conference champions, I do."
Alabama finished behind LSU in the SEC West last season, but the Crimson Tide got a spot in the Bowl Championship Series title game and beat the Tigers.
Delany insisted he isn't pushing for a particular format to be implemented for the 2014 season. He said a proposal that would put four conference champions, ranked among the top six, into the four-team playoff was simply an idea he discussed with reporters last week in Chicago.
"Some people think it should just be the top four teams; some people think it should just be the four highest-rated champions," Delany said. "I was just floating some ideas of how you might have a hybrid where champions were respected and there was still room for at-large.

Cont'd ...

Your polite but stern warning will satisfy your membership and I will take your que. If I have to watch every word I say and parse it to the point I have to worry about being banned I'd rather not participate.

If I might make a suggestion on my way out the door: I was verbally called names, and denigrated but you offered no warnings to those posters - and I don't blame you for not disciplinging them because they are the backbone of your Ohio State Buckeye message board. It is virtually impossible for any team board to accomodate fans from other teams and conferences for this reason. Trigger happy administrators only further divide the fans and inflame the rancor with admonishments like yours today.

If you truly want a "free speech" board your current position on non-OSU posters will NEVER work.

Adieu.

You could have saved yourself a lot of time if you had just typed, "I'm 12 years old." The message would have read the same.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll get right on renovating BP to allow the following:

- Wide sweeping generalizations about thousands of posters across many websites, including the following gems:

> "You're all jealous" - a brilliant argument given that OSU was the reigning BCS champ when this thread started

> "You will destroy CFB out of jealousy & fear" - even more astute, considering many are arguing AGAINST a playoff, but that goes against your beloved stereotyping

> "You are pretending to be outraged" - because clearly no one has actual disdain or outrage towards the SEC

> "Since you suck, you whine for new systems, then repeat the process when you are shown to suck still"

It's such a mystery why your trolling was not tolerated. Yeah, we're the ones with the misguided approach to debate, not the juvenile arguments you graced us with.

We'd prefer that you either parse your words and think thoughtfully or get out. If that is too much to ask of you then you don't belong here. If, on the other hand, you can handle such thoughtful behavior and post with something other than a chip on your shoulder, you could be welcomed.

This. If you came to have an open discussion, it would have gone down as such. But you came with an agenda of ruffling feathers and trying to stroke the SEC massive ego you have. There is a reason there is a conference schedule. You win that, you move on. I can accept an occasional team not playing there best game on a given day because of certain circumstances (ie; injuries, weather) and maybe they should be in the discussion. But you have to look at the whole schedule. If a team plays a harder OOC opponent and has similar rank, that team gets the nod. There is no exact science in sports rankings. Computers don't watch the games. Humans have some sort of affinity towards a team or league. There is no checklist out there we can go by. We can have a decent format with some bitching or a crappy system with some bitching. Either way we get to watch some great college football. And that may include 2 SEC teams. Maybe not.

I am sure pre 2006 he was the same guy screaming the $EC beats itself up so they will never have an undefeated team which leaves them out of the BCS NC. You know, the guy that was saying all the undefeateds played easy schedules.
