College Football Playoff (2015-16 Season)

Thank you. There are a crapload of stories like this, but they're typically osufan27 on a random message board talking about a random tailgate. This is much more specific and effective ammunition.

Perhaps we could start a thread where all information on the jackassery of these imbeciles can be stored and cataloged? I know somebody tweeted a pic of one of the morons desecrating Woody's grave so he could get a pic of himself behind the tombstone surrounded by a bunch of OSU stuff. Tried, but I can't find it now. @LordJeffBuck

I don't think the Internet has enough memory to store such a thread.

There have been lots of them posted over on 11W. Would be hard to find though unfortunately.

I'll be very interested to see what the committee does if the domers finish up with 1 loss while the ACC champion also finishes up with 1 loss while winning a CCG. No way both get in, and it'll be exactly what the ACC deserves for crawling into bed with Notre Dame.

Don't think it'll happen this year. Clemson has Syracuse, Wake Forest, and SCe left... that last one could always trip them up... especially as they feel the pressure of being #1... but they should win that game easily. If SCe does beat them, it could be too fresh in the committee's mind and ND would go ahead?

Every team in the top 4, regardless of who you put looms very beatable! What's your point? Like @UpNorth_Buckeye said, what has made it seem like tOSU is even so tough? Weve barely played a full decent game outside of freaking Rutgers and maybe Penn St!

Generally agreed, though the 1 thing that gives me hope is that our problems are fixable. Just need to stop with the stupid off-field stuff, the damn injuries, and take care of business at the end.
Our D is outstanding... and the O can still be phenomenal with JT. Team could theoretically peak at the perfect time.... but there's no more room for screwing around this year. Either by the coaching staff or the players.
Get the O squared away, and Ohio State does look like the unbeatable odds-on favorite against the current field.
when the dust clears, if you are undefeated team from a power 5 conference you are in, imo.

How great would it be to see Clemson, OSU and OkSU run the table and the committee have to choose between 1 loss Bama and 1 loss ND?

It's pretty clear they'd pick Bama every day of the week... regardless of what's happened on the field.
Given the options, I'm OK with that... ND has no CCG, their default conference champ is already in there -- and they already lost to that Conf Champ. I'm wholeheartedly against seeing rematches in BCS or "Playoffs"
Wouldn't look past UF either... if McElwain can get Harris running, Florida could make a game of it... and that is in McElwain's wheelhouse. I'd put a 1-loss Florida in the same boat.

It would be an interesting debate and I would never underestimate the pull of ND.

Domers lone loss in this scenario is to #1 in a close game on the road. They would also have a win over a ranked Stanford which could well be the PAC 12 Champ. While no CCG, their 1 loss is a million times better than Bama's.

No way to ever know and it likely won't happen but I just chuckle, thinking of the heads exploding all over the sportswriting world from the debate.

This is something I was actually thinking about. I think Alabama would get in by virtue of them winning a conference championship but oh lordy would I love to see the look on Bammer faces everywhere if they were left out.

I think the playoff committee will and should hammer Oklahoma State for their absolutely awful OOC schedule. Cent Mich, UTSA, and Central Arkansas? Come on. Central Arkansas is FCS, and 0-9.

And Alabama still lost, at home, to an unranked team. Yeah, if you erase that loss from memory then it looks like they and Clemson are 1 and 2. But that game happened. If you want to compare Bama to other one loss teams, fine, but this idea of jumping them above all these undefeated teams is silly. Especially when you have Iowa who has beaten two top 25 teams and HASNT LOST! I get that how a team is playing now is part of it. Eye test or whoever you want to call it. But the point of the game is to win. If we just overlook a loss because we decide that the team is actually much better than that, then why even keep score. Just see who looks best, and assign that team the win.

What the CFP will be this week I think:

Clemson
Alabama
Ohio State
Oklahoma State

What is should be:

Clemson
Ohio State
Iowa
Oklahoma State
Iowa :slappy:

Big XII don't matter. 3 One True Champion(s) is going to happen (please). Lolz everywhere...

If so I say put Briles, Patterson, and Gundy in a steel cage match for the 4th playoff seed and televise it. Gundy will win, of course. He's a man. He's 40.

Yeah, well ...

I don't think anyone with a brain, if they watched the Tide curb-stomp LSU tonight, thinks Alabama isn't one of the best four teams in the country.

Ahhhh yes, the eye test. And we know LSU was all that and a bag of chips because:

A. SEC
B. Two point win over Mississippi State
C. Ten point win over Syracuse
D. Seven point win over Florida
E. Beating Eastern Michigan by the same margin Army beat Eastern Michigan.

Here's another eye test: Three-loss Ole Miss 43, Bama 37

Or in other words, six-loss VaTech 35, tOSU 21

Great teams sometimes have bad days, or bad matchups. And both Sagarin (#1) and College Football Outsiders (#2) have Bama in the top four. So it's not just the "eye test" here.
