College Football Playoff (2015-16 Season)

I was under the impression that the committee was formed to rank the 4 best teams. While wins and losses is a big factor, eye test is also a tool at their disposal. If not, then we'd be using the old system of ranking, correct?

If Iowa wins out they'll be in anyways so not a huge deal

What old system went strictly by results?
If anything, the computers usually made more common sense than the polls... and they were only 1/3rd of the vote. Of course the media focused on the computers to find controversy instead of themselves.

IMO it is arguable. How good do you think Ole Miss is? aTm? Tennesee?
Bama pounded a pretty good LSU team that has arguably the best RB in the country. Iowa on the other hand hasn't had but one win that could even be considered impressive (Northwestern):

09/05/2015 Illinois State .. 31 - 14
09/12/2015 Iowa State ...... 31 - 17
09/19/2015 Pittsburgh ...... 27 - 24
09/26/2015 North Texas ..... 62 - 16
10/03/2015 Wisconsin ....... 10 - 6
10/10/2015 Illinois ........ 29 - 20
10/17/2015 Northwestern .... 40 - 10
10/31/2015 Maryland ........ 31 - 15
11/07/2015 Indiana ......... 35 - 27

Pitt and Wiscy are decent wins.

Pitt, Wiscy, and Northwestern are all teams I'd put in the same range (or better?) than Ole Miss.
On the other hand, Iowa hasn't beat anyone on the level of LSU - which definitely legitimizes Bama as a top10 team - and Iowa won't even have that opportunity until Indianapolis.
I'm not sure Iowa finishes January in the top5, top10, top15... but each has something over the other thus far.
