College Football Playoff (2015-16 Season)

I have a hard time believing that if there is one undefeated Big 12 team they don't get in the playoff over ND. This list means shit until the season is over since tOSU and both Big 12 teams still have the heart of their schedule coming up. I'd love to find a way to get a Clemson/Bama matchup in the first round of the playoff with tOSU getting ND or Big 12. Maybe convincing wins against Ill, MSU, scUM, and Iowa in consecutive weeks could sway the panel. Hopefully Kiffin finds a way to fuck up and lose another game this season.

If an undefeated Big XII team is left out in favor of ND then the committee is a joke. "Notre Dame already has two top 25 wins!" Yeah, against Temple and Navy. Those two are having nice seasons but let's pump the breaks on how massive ND's wins are - who the hell have Navy and Temple beat? Memphis and Penn State would be their signature wins. Any Big XII team that comes out unbeaten will have every bit the quality wins as ND - I'd argue they'll have more - and oh by the way, they'd be undefeated (unlike ND).

Frankly, I wish they'd wait until the season is over before announcing the field - just like basketball - because this idiotic "poll logic" I keep hearing on TV and radio drives me nuts. "The committee already has them in the top 4 so if they win out, they're in," suggests that it's impossible to look back at the entire season and take into account that early loss to a ranked team is actually worse than we thought because that ranked-at-the-time team went 5-7.

Poll logic never reevaluates the past. It's only about from this point forward, meaning you can't change your mind as more information becomes available. Where else in life does that type of thinking make sense to anybody?

Bama pounded a pretty good LSU team that has arguably the best RB in the country. Iowa on the other hand hasn't had but one win that could even be considered impressive (Northwestern):

09/05/2015 Illinois State .. 31 - 14
09/12/2015 Iowa State ...... 31 - 17
09/19/2015 Pittsburgh ...... 27 - 24
09/26/2015 North Texas ..... 62 - 16
10/03/2015 Wisconsin ....... 10 - 6
10/10/2015 Illinois ........ 29 - 20
10/17/2015 Northwestern .... 40 - 10
10/31/2015 Maryland ........ 31 - 15
11/07/2015 Indiana ......... 35 - 27

I'd wager the committee would disagree with you and count the Wisconsin win as impressive. It was a win on the road against a team that the committee now has in its top 25.

LSU was #2 but I would not be shocked if they lose another game or two.

Their best win is Florida....whos what #11? And they needed a trick play to do it.

Let's examine Florida though

Their best win is Ole Miss who everyone was honking as an elite team at the time but now we know that's not true.

7 point win vs East Carolina
5 point win vs Kentucky
1 point win vs Tennessee
2 point win vs Vanderbilt

With wins over trainwreck Mizzou and Georgia teams in between.

@buckeyesin07 and I were discussing as to how the committee would view the wins. I thought LSU was overrated, as is just about every team in the SEC. If we played Florida in the playoffs we'd smoke them badly...

Florida losing to Florida State and somehow winning the SEC title game is my dream scenario.....there's no way they can put an SEC team In if that happens.

If it's all about the eye test, then why keep score or even have winners and losers. Let's just say who looks like the best team when they are playing their best gets in. Texas looked awesome against Oklahoma...they should be in, ignore the losses, they can play good, we saw it. Wisconsin is playing great now, they're in too. Who cares about the losses.

At that, this years super bowl should be who looked best in the playoffs, not who wins.

Not saying the committee is right or wrong, but in my opinion if Alabama played Iowa this weekend, they'd pound the Hawkeyes (just like we would). Alabama had an early season fuckup, similar to what we had last year. They've had a few close one sandwiched in between dominant performances since then, but don't forget we had a close one at Slappy Valley last mid-season. I have no real problem with them being in the top 4, because if they win out and win their conference they'd get in even if they weren't in now.

And a lot of people would've said the same about us in 2002 and 2014... which is why I believe rankings should be based on demonstrable actions and merit, not "eye test" guesstimating. The most accurate computer polls using a battery of data and score prediction barely pull 65% in bowl season...

If I had to make a guess with a gun to my head, I'd definitely choose Bama. But reality is that Bama did lose a game to Ole Miss. And it amazes me how willing CFB is to just pretend that never happened. We started last year at 16 after a bad loss... and Bama starts this year at 4? Hmmm.

I wouldn't fret the "poll logic" from pundits... 2nd to last week 3 TCU 4 FSU 5 Baylor 6 Ohio State... last week after all win convincingly 3 FSU 4 Ohio State 5 Baylor 6 TCU

That's how AP and Coaches worked for years... but apparently not CFP. And I hope it stays that way.
