Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

C'mon now, this is getting ridiculous. Turner Gill deserves more than two years at freakin' Kansas.

Now, now. Kansas just trying to return to its former football glory ... errrrrrr ...

Pretty fucking stupid move. Unless, of course, they plan now to hire Mike Leach, in which case:

Wow... feel bad for Turner Gill, I hope he gets a shot somewhere else. Some of these schools have gone off the deep end with football... they (Kansas, Maryland, K State) need realize that going to a BSC game once a decade is great.... they should expect to get there every year. In Gills case he had a barren cupboard and shoulda been given more time.

Luke is mulling the Akron job right now. I'll be sad to see him go if he does.

Just your opinion?

Not me, I'd be happy -- and not because I wouldn't want him here.

Luke deserves a chance to be head coach somewhere, and Akron could be a good place to start. Talent upgrade would need to happen pretty quick, though.

I agree, it would be a good career move for him. He "bombed out" as head coach here (although he was put in a less than ideal situation); and this would give him a 2nd chance to prove his doubters wrong.

Gee whiz, I thought that going to a BCS game in 8 out of the last 9 years was the "norm"?

Nobody thought he was going to last down there at all. I mean, with Stay Puft eating everything in the cupboard, what would be left in there?

Neuheisel on his way out ...

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-1127-ucla-neuheisel-20111127,0,4708182.story

Going to the Rose Bowl now might not even save Rick Neuheisel's job at UCLA.

Dan Guerrero, the Bruins' athletic director, will sit down with UCLA's football coach after the season is over to discuss the future. That could be as soon as next weekend, after the Bruins play Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game.

Neuheisel's chances of retaining his job are bleak, according to influential people close to the program who did not want to be identified publicly because the decision was not final.

UCLA was routed by USC, 50-0, Saturday at the Coliseum, evidence that the Trojans' monopoly on Los Angeles-area college football is as strong as ever. And the Bruins will be lopsided underdogs against Oregon on Friday night at Eugene.

Wulff too ...

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/cougars/2016867822_coug27.html

Paul Wulff has likely coached his last football game at Washington State.

Sources close to the situation say Wulff, whose Cougars lost 38-21 to Washington on Saturday at CenturyLink Field, will be dismissed after a meeting with athletic director Bill Moos, barring a last-minute change of direction by Moos. It could happen as early as Sunday, possibly Monday.

I believe it was Maisel that made the observation over the weekend that when Ty Willingham was fired from ND in 2004 after three years, there was outrage because coaches were generally given five years to build the team in their image.

It's been seven years and we're now down to two year coaching tenures.

I can understand Rick's pending departure considering where he is, but I find it hard to understand Wazzou. Who in the blue blazes wants to go to Pullman? :sick1:
