Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Earlier this week, a writer from Akron Beacon Journal writer suggested that UA fire Ianello and hire Luke Fickell. Considering Ianello had 4 years left on his contract, I thought the idea was real far fetched. If this was next year, after a smooth transition, this would have been great for all parties involved.

And yeah it was shitty the way UA handled that.

What MAC AD gives a first time head coach a 6 year contract?

He has pending litigation, and I imagine that's the hold-up or stumbling block, but I'm surprised Mike Leach hasn't been looked at by a few of these schools (especially in the Pac-12).

I'd rather have Mike Leach at this point than a Gus Malzahn or Paul Chryst. Although, any school that hires Leach will have to deal with ESPN's agenda, considering he sued them.

Luke is mulling the Akron job right now. I'll be sad to see him go if he does.
Not me, I'd be happy -- and not because I wouldn't want him here.

Luke deserves a chance to be head coach somewhere, and Akron could be a good place to start. Talent upgrade would need to happen pretty quick, though.

For purely selfish reasons, I'd like to see him stay on as AHC for a year during the transition.
