Point taken. FWIW, I don't see Illinois hiring him. They need a guy who has head coaching experience and can turn that program around. Chyrst isn't the greatest recruiter in the world either. Great football mind, but I'm not sure he has the right stuff to be a good head coach. He isn't great in interviews either. I believe the only position he recruits at UW is QBs.Dryden;2051421; said:Some people switch from Ford to Chevy, or Toyota to Honda, or whatever, and convice themselves they've traded up too.
That's not a slight on Chryst. But it's Illinois ... you're Illinois, and you will always be Illinois. Go Mike Leach or Glen Mason or go home. You need a gimmick.

I wish UCLA or Arizona State would look at Mike Leach prior to Washington State. But UCLA probably doesn't want the headache.

Leach was offered the position late Tuesday afternoon, CBS learned. The deal is for five years and will make him the third-highest paid coach in the Pac-12, according to a source.
For him to go to Wazzu, I hope he's been given "free reign" (more/less).Former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has "verbally agreed" to become the next head coach of Washington State University, according to CBS Sports.
