Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Have heard rumblings that Paul Chryst may be looked at as a potential candidate for the Illinois job.

Some people switch from Ford to Chevy, or Toyota to Honda, or whatever, and convice themselves they've traded up too.

That's not a slight on Chryst. But it's Illinois ... you're Illinois, and you will always be Illinois. Go Mike Leach or Glen Mason or go home. You need a gimmick.

Point taken. FWIW, I don't see Illinois hiring him. They need a guy who has head coaching experience and can turn that program around. Chyrst isn't the greatest recruiter in the world either. Great football mind, but I'm not sure he has the right stuff to be a good head coach. He isn't great in interviews either. I believe the only position he recruits at UW is QBs.

I don't care if he clashes with the academic faculty, he made Texas Tech relevant.

I wish UCLA or Arizona State would look at Mike Leach prior to Washington State. But UCLA probably doesn't want the headache.

If Leach ends up at Wazzu, I may just have to find a way to subscribe to the Pac-12 Network or whatever it is. Leach, Kelly, DickRod, Kiffin, plus whatever other characters the other failing programs are about to come up with... things are about to get weird out west.

Mike Leach has verbally agreed to become the next head coach at Washington State. Leach was offered the position late Tuesday afternoon, CBS learned. The deal is for five years and will make him the third-highest paid coach in the Pac-12, according to a source.

Former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has "verbally agreed" to become the next head coach of Washington State University, according to CBS Sports.
For him to go to Wazzu, I hope he's been given "free reign" (more/less).

Now go take it to ESPN and Craig James, you Pirate.
