Mike Leach and the PAC-12 were made for one another. This is going to be popcorn smiley good. Congrats to the pirate. :pirate1:

Exactly. He should have an impact on the recruiting scene that Oregon seems to have a lock on. Not a huge impact, but an impact none-the-less.

Oregon better be ready for something like this....cause it's going to come.

Even if A&M offers more money, if you're Sumlin you have to consider Utah, Colorado, UCLA, Arizona, and an about to get nailed with scholarship reductions USC v. Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, MSU, and Ole Miss as your competition.

McMackin retires as Hawaii coach; accepts $600,000 buyout
University of Hawaii coach Greg McMackin retired today, ending a four-year career at the helm of the Warriors football program. McMackin had one season left on a five-year deal worth $1.1 million annually. As part of the agreement, he accepted a buyout for $600,000.

Add Hawaii to the list of those seeking a new coach. They are announcing this as a retirement, but McMackin wasn't going to be back.

He accepted a buyout to retire?

oooook.

During an interview after the news conference, UH's AD slipped verbally and said resign instead of retire. No one picked up on it, but it pretty much tells you what really happened.

If anyone cares, some names being thrown around are Rich Miano (current UH assistant), Pat Hill (ex-Fresno), Jeff Reinbold (SMU assistant and former UH assistant), Brian Norwood (Baylor, played for UH). There will be others I'm sure, but that's the early names. It's going to be a tough assignment no matter who takes over. You've got an offensive roster based on the run and shoot, so if you try to implement something new, you're going to have to recruit a couple of tight ends. There's no real speed at running back, so you need at least two RB's. They are thin at LB and in the secondary (supposedly J.T. Turner committed over the weekend, but now that's up in the air). Whoever takes on this job has quite a challenge.

I kinda want the Pac-12 Network now, just for the bat[Mark May] craziness that's going to ensue.

Right? The Big Ten has respectable, GOOD coaches. The Pac has a snake oil salesman, a pirate who locks players in sheds, and June fucking Jones. :slappy:
