Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Orgeron is one hell of a coach and a legendary recruiter, but he's not real big on the academics. If Riley can soften Coach O's approach though this is a home run.

USC players seemed to have a lot more respect for O on his second go-round when he was interim HC following Kiffin's firing.

He's been employed by and recruited successfully against some of the "slickest" guys in the business. He can be the bad cop to Riley's good cop.

Big bullet dodged...Warinner wants to be a HC and he would have talked to Lawrence for that job...
I understand but man that sucks... I trust Urb will go raid someone else's staff for a quality Oline coach.

Side note does Warinner want a HC so bad he'll take anything? I ask because 1) age and 2) recruiting "perception" he might not get the quality of offers others might (like a Beatty or a Herman). Idk if i'm talking outta my ass please feel free to smack me.

Warriner's not going to Kansas. So, for now, he's staying. Doesn't mean he won't get another job, but Kansas hired somebody else.

Rumors flying that South Carolina may also be a destination for Muschamp as DC...

Will Muschamp: In response to a number of local reports that Will is close to signing an agreement at South Carolina, sources close to the situation tell us that is not accurate. We understand that Will is on vacation and won’t be making any decisions until he returns next week. To be clear, not saying that he might not ultimately make the decision that South Carolina is where he wants to be; but am told he will not be signing anything imminently (today or this weekend as has been reported).

yeah I was more looking into the future... would teams go for the "young hot recruiter" or the "veteran coach"
My IMO, I think a young, dynamic guy like Herman might get more attractive offers than an older guy like Warriner. Kansas was my biggest concern because a) that's the kind of job I'd expect him to be a candidate for, and b) he has a history there. From what I've read, Warriner really wants to be a HC, though, so it's probably just a matter of time. Hopefully we can keep him for at least one more year, as 2015 is setting up nicely to be a "special" year.

Past history suggests that as long as Urban doesn't "encourage" you go take a 50% pay cut for the James Madison job, you can expect at least a solid MAC, C-USA, or mid-tier Power 5 offer eventually.

We understand that Colin Cowherd went big on the radio yesterday stating that Michigan would make a “huge, splash” hire this weekend. Cowherd said the hire is someone completely off the radar, that no one has mentioned at all. Maybe, Cowherd is correct; however the sources we have spoken with say the administration at Michigan continues to seem to be looking in many directions.

Which, if they're smart (and history indicates they are not), they're looking in many different directions from SF. Harbaugh ain't going there, and if they're spending too much time on him, or holding off until the NFL season is over, they're even dumber than I think they are. They should make the effort to talk to him, but if he isn't willing to give them assurances he's willing to deal, they need to move on. There might not be any other "homeruns" but there's other solid coaches out there that can at least get them back to respectability, and waiting and missing on Harbaugh means they probably have to settle for another Brady Hoke kind of hire (like Addazio). They should really zero in on guys like Gundy, Mora, and maybe Shaw. Gundy is widely said to be fed up at oOSU, so he'd probably listen. I don't think Mora's entrenched at UCLA. And though Shaw is a Stanford alum, money talks.

It might end up being somebody totally out of left-field like corn. Hackett has one thing going for him, he's not sailboatin' Bill (YMSOB), or the Pizza Guy (YRSOB), so he pretty much HAS to be a step up.
