Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Colorado coaching search: Illinois DC Ryan Walters favored over Tom Herman, Bryan Harsin per report

Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters is "largely considered the favorite" to land the Colorado football job over former Texas coach Tom Herman, ex-Auburn coach Bryan Harsin and others, according to CBS Sports. Walters played in the secondary for the Buffaloes from 2004 to 2008 and has directed a defense this season for the Fighting Illini that ranks No. 2 in the Big Ten behind unbeaten and third-ranked Michigan.

Per 247Sports national analyst Carl Reed, Colorado also spoke with Jackson State coach Deion Sanders about its vacancy. Sanders is reportedly in discussions with power-brokers for the Buffaloes and USF. In last year's coaching cycle, Sanders interviewed at TCU and Colorado State.
