Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Good call
Will be interesting to see how he does in Lincoln. He's known as a program builder and corn needs a whole lotta building.

The reaction around here seems to be mainly negative. Everybody is focused on his poor NFL record and "meh" (47-43) college record, but they're looking without context. He took over two dead programs and made them winners in 3 years:

Temple:
Pre Rhule went 9-4 then 4-7 under Steve Addazio and were a mess.
Rhule went 2-10, 6-6, 10-4 then 10-3

Baylor was dealing with the Art Briles fallout and had just gone 7-6 under interim Jim Grobe. The roster was barren when Rhule took over as they essentially punted on 2 recruiting classes.
Rhule went 1-11. 7-6 and 11-3 with a NY6 (Sugar Bowl) appearance.

Yes, he was awful in Carolina, but, 1. College coaches frequently struggle to transition to the NFL, and 2. Carolina is a dysfunctional mess.

I think it's a homerun hire. Rhule resurrected two programs that were dead in the water winning 10 games at each stop in his 3rd year. Can he make Corn competitive again? Who knows. I thought Frost was a homerun too and he ended up being a weak ground out. There's a lot of challenges with winning at Corn now. The 90's were a long time ago and the game has completely changed since they were last relevant.

Agree, home run hire!

I'm here in Omaha myself and there's a bunch of whiners about this hire. Here's my responses usually to those folks:
  1. Luke Fickell has a 5-11 record against ranked opponents.
  2. Rhule won more games in 2 1/2 seasons in Carolina at the highest level than Frost did in 5 years. He'd have had more wins than Frost had he not been fired.
  3. You'd be a former head football coach in the NFL if Mayfield was your QB too. Guy has murdered 3 head coach's careers thus far.
  4. Mickey Joseph wouldn't have taken the job here unless he had some sort of assurances under Trev.
One of the first things he did when he got here was fired Zach Duval (left, looking like he's searching for the nearest Subway), one of the biggest wastes of space of a S&C coach and picked up the Incredible Hulk (Corey Campbell, right) to replace him:

Because cheating on your wife as a grown man isn't against the law, but allowing young women to be sexually assaulted kinda is?

EDITED FOR PLURALITY.
He didn't allow it, he just didn't report it, or do anything about it afterwards. I'm not a fan, but he must have done something more because there are schools out there that want wins more than student safety.

Not reporting it the first time IS allowing it (looks at Zombie Joe Pa).

That's why he was a mandatory reporter.

I mean, I think you're too in the weeds about student safety. For example...

Keep scissor lifts away from Brian Kelly and people live. Amiright?

Also there were rumors he tried to threaten the women to shut them up. The good ole boys club. And that's a big fucking deal

Question, why, if Hugh Freeze can be rehired, can Briles not find work? When has Morality been considered over skill with the Xs and Os.

what Freeze did was only morally wrong (and only the low end of the “wrong” scale if you’re at Auburn).
i mean those young ladies in Oxford need to make a living too. And college athletes pre-NIL dont always have the funds to pay for it themselves.

Briles on the other hand would likely have been shot had he done that (allowing rapes) in some towns in the deep south.
