Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

He's done coaching (it seems), but through all of this, I'm surprised Glen Mason never gets a look anywhere. Minnesota isn't exactly an easy job.

He'd have to go back to a school he previously coached at, but I'd rather have Glen Mason at Kansas than "Schematic Advantage".

Each December the trees are trimmed, the stockings are hung, the presents are wrapped...........and Chris Peterson shows the college football world that he doesn't have the guts to take his game to the big time.

It's like the salmon returning to Capistrano.

Can you blame him? Look at what happened to the last guy who left BSU for a bigger job:

Didn't Kansas learn their lesson after their last fat coach?

They learned that they can't win WITHOUT one...

That big dude took them to a BCS bowl. What bowl game have they gotten to the last couple of years? Mangino took them to at least ONE bowl game a year:

The Chili Bowl...

The Ice Cream Bowl:

And then there was Myron Mixon's Super Bowl party one year....

McMackin was fired (sorry, I meant retired) as much for the attendance drop as he was for losing.

I'd bet Oceanic Cable's Pay-per-view season package has as much to do with the attendance drop as anything. I have the package and about 7-8 other guys pitch in so it costs each of us $40-50 total for the eight or so games they show, so there's no reason any of us to go to a home game, especially now that the games are in HD...with the amount of people who have the package, UH could be losing 10,000+ butts in the seats per game. Think how much they're losing in ticket and concessions sales.

Even when June Jones had Colt Brennan and was running the regular season table I remember seeing a lot of empty seats in the stands, while the last three or four years the stands have been at least half or more empty for home games. The losing season is definitely a factor, but the powers-that-be pinning the attendance drop squarely on him are simply using that as a reason for their cutting him loose.

Hawaii isn't fun to watch unless you're IN Hawaii. Anything else is like a starving man watch Charlie Weis eat at Sirloin Stockade....

I think it's actually the opposite of that. When you don't live in Hawai'i, their games are so late that they're competing with infomercials, sleep, or the stage of drunkenness where your friends draw penises on your face.

If you do live in Hawai'i, UH football is competing with about a million other things that are probably more fun than watching the game.

Seeing the Rainbows in Hawaii is a lot like being in a pub with Jake Heke and friends.

It's not exactly a family friendly environment.

Are you saying that Thujone drinks with Mark May?

Alabama OC Jim McElwain reportedly to Colorado State...

Jim McElwain, offensive coordinator for an Alabama team that will play for the national championship next month, has been hired as CSU?s new football coach.

Colorado State University wouldn?t confirm the hiring Monday night but scheduled a news conference for noon today in the Indoor Practice Facility to introduce its new football coach.

The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News, citing an unidentified source close to McElwain, reported that he would be introduced today as CSU?s new coach. Several sources in Fort Collins, both inside and outside the athletic department, confirmed that McElwain was the choice of new CSU athletic director Jack Graham.

These are always the most interesting changes for me. You have a program that should be focusing on the NC game. You also have a coach who many commits may be comfortable with. This tends to distract in both areas.
