Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Plus he was single-handedly responsible for Peyton Manning's development as a QB.

4. Fulmer was hardly "single handedly" responsible for Manning's development as a qb. David Cutcliffe was had much more to do with that. Fulmer was an OL guy, not a qb guy. Cutcliffe was a big reason Eli went to Ole Miss.

I'm sure that Archie Manning guy had nothing to do with it, either.

Jim L. Mora will be named football coach at UCLA Saturday, a source close to the situation told ESPNLosAngeles.com.
Mora, the former coach of the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons, is currently an analyst for the NFL network. He replaces Rick Neuheisel, who was fired after going 21-19 during his four years with the Bruins.

I guess that puts all of the "Tressel to UCLA" rumors to bed.

Source: Kevin Sumlin to coach A&M

Texas A&M was close Saturday morning to finalizing a contract with Houston's Kevin Sumlin, who the Aggies have chosen as their new coach, a school source has told ESPN's Joe Schad.
Sumlin, who had also been a candidate at UCLA and Arizona State for their coaching vacancies, has established Houston as a national contender in Conference USA. The Cougars went undefeated this season before losing the conference title game to Southern Miss.

Each December the trees are trimmed, the stockings are hung, the presents are wrapped...........and Chris Peterson shows the college football world that he doesn't have the guts to take his game to the big time.

It's like the salmon returning to Capistrano.

Wow, you manage to even make me look intelligent and humble!

Are those African or European salmon?

Kind of like all those Hawai'ians who don't have the guts to leave paradise and join the Chi-town rat race, right?

1. He'll be 62 next year, so he's no spring chicken, you're lucky if you get 5-6 years from him. ASU just fired a dinosaur that couldn't get the job done.
2. UCLA has a better option in Jim Mora.
3. His record is very front-heavy. He was just 29-21 (18-14 SEC) his last four years, including disastrous 2005/2008 seasons despite strong recruiting. His last BCS bowl was in 1999.
4. Fulmer was hardly "single handedly" responsible for Manning's development as a qb. David Cutcliffe was had much more to do with that. Fulmer was an OL guy, not a qb guy. Cutcliffe was a big reason Eli went to Ole Miss.
5. He'd probably be pretty similar to Weis, not as good as June Jones.

Plus it's hard to develop a booster network as quick as Fulmer would need to get recruits. Those kind of things take time nowadays.

I read Petersen didn't take the UCLA job because his wife didn't want to leave Boise.

Again, didn't want to leave Boise. For Los Angeles. This broad must really hate Kim Kardashian.

I read that he was against the move to the BE. He knows his little scam is over now. No gearing an entire season around the opening game and then having five weeks to prepare for a bowl game anymore with a healthy and rested team that coasted through their conference. With Horse Teeth gone and having to deal with an upgraded conference schedule and crazy travel for away games, I would have thought he would have seen this as the chance to make the jump to a big time program while still a hot commodity.

I maintain my stance. The guy doesn't have the guts or ambition to take his game to a top tier program. He'll settle for being King of Boise until he fades away into oblivion.

Well, I don't know anyone who would call Boise, "paradise." My point is that if you want to reach the highest level of the college football coaching profession, if you have the drive and ambition to see if you are a legend or not, you don't stay in Boise. He's learned how to game the system up there and then whine when he's not put into the nc game.

I just want to see his bluff called. You want access to the nc game, then take your fucking talents to a program and conference that will give you that access.

Well for starters, she'd have to buy a new wardrobe.
