But that's not lucking out. They do it over and over.

Here's the problem... (other than again, not having an owner that will deficit spend)

Yeah, the team control is nearly the only thing that matters... and not just because of $ (Carrasco had team control under a post arbitration contract)

Having valuable guys leave in Free Agency gets you nothing (well occasionally a draft pick - and I guess the younger minor leaguer here is essentially that since I doubt he got to play last year) so even back to the Carlos Baerga thing, the value isn't just the production, its who did these guys end up getting you.... ultimately the end up being someone that stops playing for whatever reason. That's why you have to get multiples, you can't afford one developmental guy. Going back to the Alomar deal, I think Bully Traber was supposed to be the good one coming out of that.... but that's why you had Jake Westbrook thrown into the David Justice deal.

There's no reason to be happy about any of this other than to say that I'm glad you guys aren't actually running the Indians

I get that you want to win all the games now, but that doesn't work even in Boston or NY, they just get bigger windows.
Well, when they’re 64-98 over the next 8 years, everyone can be happy I guess

I don't think they'll really trade Ramirez because his deal is pretty club friendly.

Though now would be a great time to trade him to get maximum value due to said club friendly deal.

Clearly maximizing value in return is zero consideration for the Dolans. They’ll market Ramirez as the “star” right up until they salary dump him too.

How much does a star on a 90 loss team really rake in for you though?

"Hey come watch Jose be the only one on the team who can actually hit the ball above the Mendoza Line"

Use the money to buy some land or a garage and put in some fucking parking...it’s an easy park to get to, but a shitfuck one to try and park your car near.

Plenty of parking nearby and plenty further away if you want to pay $5 and to walk. Hell, take the RTA straight there. And with attendance what it has been, it's been very easy to get in and out of.

Nothing like a new park for a team that fan interest has totally been killed
Nothing says 'great use of public tax dollars' like replacing a not even 30 year old stadium that has no business being replaced, is easy to get to, etc.
I should say, there is more smoke about the Dolans being interested in spending millions to completely renovate Progressive Field rather than getting a new stadium. But I am sure they will shoot for the moon if the public is going to foot the bill.

Definitely would had taken the better long term upside........the "help right now" aka the 2 INF who cant hit is a joke.

The sad truth is they could sign an SS and SP in FA to "replace" these two and still have cut $15M in salary, but they refuse to do that. The Cleveland FO has no interest in investing any more cash resources to the current team than they absolutely have to. Forget salary cap, how about a salary floor to ensure each team has more than 2 or 3 legitimate MLB players?
