The Dolans are amongst the worst owners in pro sports. You've got to be total pond scum like Anthony Precourt to be a worse owner. If you can't afford to pay your baseball players, don't own a baseball team! But sadly the Indians are owned by billionaires that just want to wring every possible penny in profit out of the franchise. There is literally no competitive logic behind not making Lindor the highest paid player in Indians history. Just like there was literally no logic competition-wise to letting Michael Brantley leave in free agency to replace him with a patchwork outfield group. I get trading Lindor because they know they won't re-sign him, but the fact that they won't re-sign him or any other marquee player unless they get a bargain basement deal is a problem. There is an anti-competitive leadership crisis at the highest levels in the Indians franchise.
