Cleveland Indians Thread of Malaise (2014 Season)

They have gone 7-4 over their last 11 and about to make it 8-4 seeing as though we're up 15-2 in the 9th. The starting pitching has been very good and the offense is coming around. Morgan, Cabrera and Aviles have really helped of late to go along with Brantley, Murphy, and Gomes who have been decent all year. Hell, even Santana is showing a little life (still terrible though). I wouldn't be opposed to them trading Cabrera while the iron is hot and moving Aviles to short for the remainder of the season with how he's been playing for us.

Hopefully we can take the series tomorrow, and 2 out of 3 against the A's which will put us at 22-22 going in to the Detroit series at home. Unless injuries ravage Detroit we aren't taking the division so I would be hopeful for another wild card.

Cabby's not going anywhere unless this team takes a total dive in the next month or so, he finally hits for more than 1 week a month, and some contender's SS goes on the 60 day DL. Otherwise, who would give you ANYTHING for him...even though it's just a rental for this season? The Tribe might as well keep him and hope he goes on hot streak for a bit.

With 2 center fielders who left the game last night, the Indians are more likely to be ravaged by injury.

Kipnis, Brantley, and Morgan all out with injury now though I think I heard that Brantley is just day to day but Morgan may miss some time. Plus, it's only a matter of time before Bourne goes down with another one.

as long as Murphy, Aviles and Chiz do not get hurt we will be okay:biggrin: I wonder if Swisher could pull his hammy

Probably 2+ weeks on Kipnis, he is back to swinging though.

Nyjer to the DL, Jesus Aguilar called up. He hasn't hit away from the Columbus launching pad this year but at least has decent footwork at first base. Brohio can DH for all I care.

Todays 2, 3, 4 hitters:

.197, .174, .153...just a reminder, it's MAY FIFTEENTH.

Also, it's time to send Salazar on the I-71 shuttle. He flat out sucks this year.

I wouldn't mind them sending Salazar to the bullpen, Carrasco to the minors, and bringing Bauer up. Salazar usually gives you a couple good innings before he hits 100 pitches in the fuckin 4th inning.

Carrassco is out of options...he's not going anywhere unless it's DFA. At this point, it seems like Tito has no confidence in him. He's even screwing up mop up duty. If he does not start improving a DFA could be in his future before the end of the month.

Salazar is not going to the pen; they won't give up that easy on him as a starter. But, sending Salazar down to Cbus for about 4 or 5 weeks will keep him from earning a year of ML service in 2014 and the time at AAA might be the best thing for him. Look for Bauer to make Salazar's next scheduled start on Tuesday vs. Detroit.

Yeah, Salazar isn't going to go to the pen. If anything, send him down to C-bus to work on that curveball and get his head back in it.

As for Carrasco, he looked decent his first couple of times out of the pen before getting shellacked the other night. Of course, that night, Toronto was pounding everybody. I'd say give him a few more looks and if he's truly circling the drain, it's time to DFA.

And that's what it is... his head. He's just got to have the confidence to pitch to contact, then he won't be at 100 pitches in the 4th, and then he won't freak out because he's at 100 pitches in the 4th. His hook could be more consistent, sure, but, its not his stuff.
