At this point Tito is batting Santana. He is leaving pitchers in too long, bringing matchup bullpen guys in too late, not making defensive subs late in close games, hes got bullpen guys in the rotation, he's to stubborn to move unproductive #8 hitters out of the #4 and 6 slots...it's a disaster.

He is living off last year's results when the vets turned things around mid season. Of course, if they'd been stronger earlier, maybe the team is in the real playoffs rather than the play-in.

I feel the lineup will work itself out soon enough. CC to the pen seems to be the right move depending on who gets the call. That won't be until next week due to a couple off days.

My biggest concern is the defense and the lack of defensive replacements. Francona used the Goon Squad so much last year that they had shirts made up, and has completely gone away from that this year. Elliot Johnson sitting for literally two weeks? Why in gods name would you short-hand yourself? The problem is exacerbated by Giambi taking a spot when he's clearly not ready to contribute (if he ever will be again). You can't punt two spots. I'd like Johnson gone and Morgan up, he's at least a threat on the basepaths and can hold his own with the bat and on D.

Of bigger concern is Masterson looking like shit. MacAllister and Kluber cannot carry this rotation. Masterson needs to unfuck himself post haste. The guy wants elite pitcher money, but he's a turd every other year. Unless he crafts a significant turn around, I'd let his ass walk.

Don't worry, they will suck this year, bottom out with 62 wins next year, then immediately turn it around and look like contenders for a playoff spot, right when all those contracts end and Kipnis et al. all leave. I'm sure David Delluci will be available. Or Andy Marte.

In attempt to make myself feel better I went back and watched some highlights from the Indians past, mostly 1995 and 1997. I think it made it worse though bc damn I'd do anything to have a team like that again, was so exciting every game.... now we get a year taste of relevancy and boom it appears back to the cellar for 4 more years.
