Cleveland Indians (official 2012 season)

Choo is a Boras guy and is a FA after next year, so we only have him for one more season and then he's gone, pretty much for sure. If they are going to be sellers thus year, it would be a good time to maximize their return for him now. If, however, this is their "window" they had best hold on to him, because the team will not be as good next year without him, no matter who they get. It's a tough spot right now.
Yeah, I knew that Choo was a Boras:tongue2: guy but I thought maybe with Hafner and Sizemore coming off the books after next season there might be hope depening upon the season Choo as next season. I would hate to even look at our outfield without him in it.

Well I figured you knew :wink2: You mean you don't want an outfield of Lillebridge, Brantley, and Duncan? Whyever not?

The Tribe were on the list of teams J Upton didn't want to be traded to. They were the Indians, Yankees, Bo Sox, and Cubs.

why i said it would never happen...pipe dream for me

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Indians "will listen" to trade proposals for Shin-Soo Choo and Chris Perez, but "signs point to them staying put at deadline."

Choo is arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter, while Perez is under control for two more years. But, while their salaries are escalating, the Indians are just 3.5 games off the AL Central lead and don't consider themselves sellers.

Myself, I've come to the conclusion that if the Indians do anything they will be doing some selling on Tuesday. They don't have any prospects to trade to pick up another pitch, a righty hitter who can play left.

Well, that was a stellar way to follow up the series win over Detroit :slappy: Jesus Henrietta Christ, that might have been the worst Indians performance in the last half century, given the circumstances and what was at stake. If that didn't cement Tomlin's removal from the rotation for Captain Rotating ID Badge, I don't know what could. I don't think they'll be picking up Headley, I expect the Dolans will use this as a segue to being sellers.

They need to forget the delusions and sell. This franchise is going to continue treading water until they start making moves. The farm is pretty weak right now, and it's likely a few years before any recent draft choices are in a position to contribute. They should be listening to offers for Choo and Perez, at the very least.

At least this weekend should eliminate any delusions of contention. I still can't believe how galactically stupid that Ubald-O trade was last summer.

Re: Choo...

@Ken_Rosenthal
Hearing Price for #Indians' Choo is a major leaguer - a good one - with less than three years service time. Choo free agent after 2013.
