Cleveland Indians (official 2012 season)

Well its the 1 walk (and as a result) the sub 1 whip.

To be honest, what I'm noticing in his mechanics is that he's a lot tighter on his feet in the start of his wind up. He was always sloppy just starting (and in a rush when he was frustrated). But seems like he's got his legs, literally back under him.

that, and he is throwing the splitter a lot less.

Eh, yeah. He's got about 47 pitches that he throws I think. And his split always struck me as more of a fork, and I don't think guys not named darvish or nomo should really mess with that. Regardless, having seen him for a year now, its not an arm problem, its not a stuff problem, so either he's a headcase or mechanics (or one leading to the other). But when he's on he can throw it in a teacup. See if he can keep it up I guess.

ps: these uni's are UGLY.

Sorry, but I like those unis. In fact, our softball team at Yokota AB, Japan in 1980 based our unis on that very jersey (using varying shades of blue instead on red/yellow/orange). Looked pretty sweet...and we won the base championship in a 24-team league.

i need to go and check fangraphs for pitch selection, but it seems like he's throw his straight fasatball more.

Looking up and down this roster, it's no surprise that they struggle to score more than 1 run anymore...horrifying. It really is a goddamned miracle they've won as many games as they have, because, talent wise, this is one of the worst teams in baseball.

I agree it's a miracle the Indians have had the modest success they've experienced so far this season (and I picked them to be in 3rd place this year before the season started). Manny Acta has used a lot of smoke and mirrors to squeeze a few wins. For example, he knows this team has very little ability to come back from behind in late innings so without a lead Vinny and Chris nearly never take the mound.

It's not a full excuse for the Indians' front office, but early every team in MLB has lineup holes. The White Sox, for example have been just about as bad, hitting wise, at 3B and 2B as the Tribe has been at LF and 1B. Hitting is down signficantly all acrosss MLB; collectively teams are on pace to score about 4000 fewer runs, and 900 fewer HRs, than they did in 2000. The White Sox hope that they have plugged their 3B hole with the trade for Youk, but his numbers certainly don't make that a gimme.

Instead of getting help from outside the organization, the Tribe's moves this month have been to dump a recent No. 1 draft pick, Beau Mills, and start the rumors that they are going to swap places with Gomez and McCallister. [yawn]

4-0 Yankees after 2, Tomlin just served up a 2 run HR to the immortal Dewayne Wise (his first of the year) and his .133 AVG

nothing new to see here.....not that any of us expected this team to be worth a damn, but it looks like the free fall is about to begin
