Second bullpen arm coming to the Indians in this deal as well
Well, if they got a second arm thing must have given up more than Mejia I would think. The Padres could not be that stupid.. While I hate losing Francisco, he is sort of a player without a position and from what I have read he really wants to catch but he has so much to learn with regard to handling pitchers.

I haven't been very high on Mejia since last year. I just don't see him as being much more than an average ML player. Getting Hand and Cimber would be a MAJOR boost for this bullpen. Not an Andrew Miller boost, but it should knock Allen out of the closer role, which is desperately needed. Maybe Allen performs better in a set-up/middle relief role. Get Miller back healthy, and this bullpen goes from a potential downfall to a strength.

CL- Hand
SU- Allen/Miller
MR- Cimber/Ramirez
SR- Perez

Also allows you to get rid of detritus like Otero, Tomlin and McFastball.

Schedule sets up nicely for a good run after the AS break. Guess we'll see how that pans out.

No other players involved on the Tribe's side. Make no mistake, however, this was a very heavy price for them to pay. I'm a fan of this deal, no doubt, but I also think Mejia is going to be a great player.

As an aside, giving up only Mejia in this trade allows the Indians more room to maneuver with other prospects as they look to address the addition of an outfield bat.

Ive got mixed feelings about Mejia, could he end up great? Yea.....but I get the feeling hes the type of guy who lights the world on fire in the minors but ends up just average at the ML Level (as @NFBuck said above) could be wrong, but just giving him up here and nothing else to get a ace relieve and another solid reliever, who both come with some years of control is a big win.

Hand is still under control for 2 years after this. So he helps ease the possible loss of both Miller and Allen.

Climber isnt even eligible for arbitration until after the 2020 season, so he will be around awhile

Shoot, I almost like this deal too much. 2 very good relievers (lefty and righty), controlled for the next 2-3 years. For a good, but what most would say, toss-up prospect. Fills exactly what they need while getting rid of what they didn't need.

This can't end as well as it seems.
