No I'm saying if they are eventually not signed and we decide to go in a different direction.

That's what had me a bit anxious. if they go in a different direction they have to have the potential to do what Nap did or we will have trouble making up that production
Yeah, obviously the goal would be to add production if Brantley can play, but the thinking needs to be that nap is a free agent and an option just like everyone else and may end up the best solution.

And it may be soon, rumors are flying on talk radio this morning that they may move Miller this winter.
I do not understand why they would do this except if it is about his salary which is not all that bad. @Bucklion @AKAK

Edit: Nevermind. I just read an article that said there is a possibility if the Indians are out of contention next summer around the All-Star break. I still would rather keep Miller and trade Allen at that time. Assuming there is a market for Allen.

There was some blind survey of GMs where a couple thought they might move him... but given the price they paid in the trade and the price they would pay in season ticket sales (potentially) I just don't see it unless its for an offer you cant refuse. Further... there's limited teams that can take the salary AND give up the assets. Anything is possible but to me he's in the right place, on a contending team that should be investing in the luxury of having him...

I suppose a team that feels like they are there but doesn't have a closer it's a possibility but the Indians can get a lot of value from him as it is.

I imagine they would have to at least keep him until the trade deadline to see if they get lightning in a bottle again. Right?
Well sure... and having him certainly helps the odds of not needing to trade him. This is a pretty good team I think. Some guys out kicked their coverage for sure but they got nothing for the most part from Brantley and Gomes. This is just to say that they didn't necessarily even be the best version of themselves. Will it work out that well again, no idea but they have some very good players in spots.

Just for posterity:

https://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2016/11/francisco_lindor_gold_glove_aw.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians have themselves another Gold Glove Award-winning shortstop.

Francisco Lindor, the kid with the ever-present smile and ever-reliable glove, was named the top defensive American League shortstop on Tuesday night.

Lindor is the first Tribe player to win a Gold Glove Award since Grady Sizemore in 2008. He's the first Cleveland shortstop to earn the honor since Omar Vizquel in 2001. That marked Vizquel's eighth Gold Glove Award with the Indians; he racked up 11 during his career.

Since Lindor was called up on June 14th, 2015 (in AKAK math anyway) the Indians are 146-115 (and 10-5 in the postseason)

Well the Red Sox just got stronger trading for Chris Sale and late inning reliever Tyler Thornburg from Milwaukee (2.15 ERA 12.1 K/9 last year)

The upside is, the White Sox just got a lot worse. Now, that may seem like a small thing, but, to me, the easier it is to win the Central, the better for the post season. The Tigers haven't been able to slash payroll like they wanted to but it could still happen, and they've don't nothing to get better. The Royals are gearing up for a fire sale... Point being that the easier the path to the postseason the better. Get some guys rest down the stretch (and in the case of Salazar and Carrasso, in season once or twice) and bet in a better spot.

No problem. The Indians are going to sign Edwin E……

They're trying to create urgency so someone else will pay for him. That will leave no realistic market for Napoli.... and they'll be back where they started but with better leverage.

Not sure if I want Nap back or not. The last 2 months of the season were not pretty for him at all. I know that Edwin is probably not going to be coming to Cleveland because of payroll but I read that there are a couple other guys out there that might be worth a look. I just do not have a good feeling about bringing Nap back next season..

I think they'd like to shop for an OF as well, but they need to get this 1B/DH thing sewn up first... Chris Carter is about the same guy.... does it matter which one you watch K 200 times?

Looks like they are going hard after Mitch Moreland, they don't want to seem to budge on giving Napoli more than 1 year.

I think he would be a good fit for the spot. But Boston is going after him hard as well which probably means they will win out in the end.
