Kipnis pulls up lame running to 1B and leaves game; looked like right hamstring injury. Odds that Mikey Martinez is back in Cleveland tomorrow? He's in peak form, hitting.172 for the Clippers.
I think you know by now that I am not a big Kipnis fan. I know that he finally started to hit the past couple games but where has he been all season.. If he was having problems with his neck during spring training he should have taken some time off back then. I really like Gonzales. I think he has much better range than Kipnis and given some time I think he can come around with his bat. Just my two cents.

You got your wish. Kip is on the DL and Mills indicated it could be for more than the 10 day minimum. I agree that Gonzolez has looked good in his limited opportunities this year. Hope it can continue.

Kip did take the majority of Spring Training off for a shoulder/rotator cuff issue. It's quite possible that his recent neck stiffness problems are related to that. With the Tribe, we may never learn what's really going on with Kip's injuries.

Fucking allergic to momentum.

The first 16 games of the 2nd half are against teams who are under .500

3 @ A's (39-50)
3 @ Giants (34-56)
3 Vs Blue Jays (41-47)
1 Vs Reds (39-49)
3 Vs Angels (45-47)
3 Vs White Sox (38-49)

The way this season has been going I'm sure they'll manage to hover right around or maybe even under .500 against that bum stretch.

I continue to have zero worries about this team. Still expect to see them playing this postseason.
Given how shitty the Central is, I'd tend to agree. However, it would be nice to see some semblance of consistency out of them. They just can't seem to maintain any positive momentum; though to their credit, they haven't allowed themselves to get mired in any negative, either (they haven't dropped more than 3 in a row all year).

If they want to make any noise in the postseason, they're gonna need better starting pitching outside of Klubot and Cookie. Clevinger has been a nice surprise overall, but he's been far from consistent, and I don't think you want to roll into October with him as your #3. Tomlin is junk, and you never know what you're going to get with Bauer, though it's usually a lot of strikeouts and a lot of runs for the other team. Maybe Salazar pulls his head out of his ass, but I'm not overly confident he will. Outside of a strong first half last year, he's been up-and-down his whole career, and it's getting late early for him to realize his "potential."

They need Kipnis to get healthy and be productive, too. Gonzalez might be a capable sub, but he won't produce like Kipnis has when he's been healthy.

The great thing about baseball, is all it takes is getting hot at the right time. The Cardinals won the WS in 2006 coming off an 83-78 regular season. If JRam continues to hit well, EE mashes, Brantley stays healthy, Frankie gets it together, and guys like Chis and Zimmer are semi-productive they should be just fine offensively. Maybe even Santana turns it on in the second half.

The pitching will remain my concern unless they acquire a viable #3, and I haven't heard many rumblings that they're shopping.

Chisenhack starting the 2nd half on the DL. Yay injuries

http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2017/07/cleveland_indians_will_open_th.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When the Indians resume the season Friday in Oakland, they will do so without right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall.

Chisenhall, who leads the team with 51 RBI, will be placed on the disabled list before Friday's game. The Indians will replace Chisenhall with Tyler Naquin, who opened the season with the Tribe, but was optioned to Class AAA Columbus in mid-April.

Chris Antonetti, Indians president of baseball operations, said Kipnis could be back sooner than Chisenhall. Antonetti said Chisenhall could be out a "few weeks." This will be Chisenhall's third stay on the DF this year.
