Well, look at these hacks playing good baseball in August. Good thing those April and May games didn't count.
Still Shitty.

So Shapiro is gone, and as he acknowledges there are many who are celebrating his departure on his way out the door, the Cleveland media can’t get out of each other’s way to squee over the guy. Obviously the Dolan’s cheapness is not at his feet…however his complete inability to evaluate draft talent, or to listen to those who can, or to hire people who are able to, is completely at his feet. Add in all the crappy promotions, and I think the media are the only people sad to see him go…and that’s because he played them like a fiddle. Will be interesting to see how he does in Toronto, where they actually measure success by winning and losing.
He did a fantastic job of putting together the team that would be pretty successful from about 2004-07...guys like Pronk, Grady, CoCo, Baby Huey, Victor, Cliff Lee, the Raffys, Casey Blake, etc.So Shapiro is gone, and as he acknowledges there are many who are celebrating his departure on his way out the door, the Cleveland media can’t get out of each other’s way to squee over the guy. However, his track record has been spotty, at best, since then. And the returns he ultimately got for Lee and Victor were pretty awful. Lee did yield Carrasco, who appears to be a serviceable starter. Victor brought Masterson, who was solid for about two years. The rest of the yield from those trades was/is bunk. The Sabathia trade looked really bad for a while with LaBusta turning into a AAAA player, but at least Brantley has blossomed into a legit all-star type of OF.
And yes, the draft record was an absolute diarrhea cocktail for years. A recent re-emphasis on the drafts might have things going in the right direction, but that seems to be more Antonetti's doing than Shapiro. Lindor is already producing, and Zimmer, Frazier appear to be good prospects.
Ultimately, his tenure was a mixed bag.
I will never forgive him for trading CoCo Crisp for Andy F'n Marte, the ultimate prospect flop. We had an outfielder named CoCo!Yeah, its so odd. The good guys he got were ultimately throw in dudes... if you look, I think you find out that they were A ball, sometimes rookie ball guys, and the "almost ready guys" - I mean Brandon Phillips ended up being good, in cincy... and that's fine, but, same kind of deal as LaPorta Brantley. Pronk was a little bit of a steal because the Rangers literally didn't have anywhere to put him. And, he was a tremendous scrap heap diver, but, none of it ever made much sense to me...
Can't draft for crap, but you can acquire good guys that other people JUST drafted... AND you have to develop both of them... but the gusy you draft suck, and the guys you acquire are good... you can pull Casey Blake and zillions of other guys off the cheap heap, but, you sign $$ FA's, and well... ok, he got rid of them at least.
We all know how this will end...4 games out may as well be 40 with this squad
but apparently we have jumped up to a 17.7% chance, basically all of August we hovered around 5%
