That just doesn't make any sense. I mean they are in first place and their hitting funk began when Hafner went down for a month. I think if their hitting does not improve by the end of the season maybe they should take a look at the manager since he thinks we have such good players.

From what I've been reading, he wasn't very well liked in the clubhouse. On top of that, the superstar pupil (Santana) hasn't been making any strides, so I'm sure they want to fix that before it goes too far. Also, Choo is still mediocre at best, and Grady's plate discipline is slipping to Dave Kingman levels. I don't mind the change, it certainly can't get worse.

Yeah, its not like they just fired Walt Hriniak or something... or even Charlie Manuel for that matter.

I understand what you are saying with regard to performance levels of supposedly our best hitters but why not get a hitting coach with some major league experience. I have never heard of Bruce Fields until this article. Shoot, bringing down Manning from the broadcaster's booth:)

Need a Paul Harvey moment ("and now, the rrrrrRest of the Story) on the Nunnely firing. Blabbers on radio during rain delay claimed that he tossed batting practice at 4:00 on Saturday, then was not on he bench during the game...but no announcement by the Tribe until today. Combine that with the fact that Fields was not even in town and this just does not smell like something that was planned/reviewed in advance.

Four whiffs for Sizemore today, so he's now striking out at a more than 1/3 clip...he needs to improve to achieve Dave kingman status. Jesus, he sucks. I'd say he's one of the most overrated players in baseball, but I think everybody pretty much knows he was a three year wonder at this point.

On a more positive note, it's good to sweep a team we should. Hell, the Buccos were actually > .500 coming in. Also, nice breakout game from Phelps. Hopefully he's getting more comfortable now. Choo had a nice game too, so hopefully he builds off of that. Also, the BP is still pitching really well. Who would have thought that would be a strength on this team after three plus dismal seasons?

I think the "Human Air Conditioning Unit" is a proper nickname for Grady, hes got to be supplying a nice cool breeze to the fans behind home plate with all of those whiffs.

If three strikeouts is a Golden Sombrero, would 4 be a Platinum?

choo is upset that the hitting coach is fired. choo was one of the main reasons the guy was canned. manny acta said it plain as could be 3 days ago when he said too many of the guys on this team are too talented to be this woeful at the plate for this long.

sizemore, santana, and choo are 3 of the main culprits. this board goes bonkers when matt laporta waddles up to the plate and swings the bat like a retard, but then gets mad at the hitting coach being fired.

Well... 4 K's is the Golden Sombrero (It being bigger than the "hat trick" for 3)

But you are on the right track... Platinum would be 5.
