Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

Carmona's last 8 starts (including this horse abortion):

44.2 IP, 59 H, 46 R, 45 ER, 15 BB, 22 K, 11 HR, 1.657 WHIP, .280 BAA, 9.07 ERA

Those numbers are uglier than they seem because in several of those starts he got pounded early, then they left him in and he threw a decent additional inning or three. He's worse at this point, or at least as bad, as he was in 2008.

That is pathetic. He needs to be yanked from the rotation NOW. Call up McCallister, give Gomez another shot. Hell, Huff has been pitching really well, give him a chance. None of them could possibly be any worse. The guy is the biggest headcase of a pitcher I've ever seen.

cant send him to AAA, cant trade him...only option would possibly be to stick him in the bullpen but we all know how well that worked last time he was there...knowing how annonetti is, especially with his dealing of andy marte, carmona will be sitting in the rotation for the rest of the year

I don't know how they can possibly justify keeping him in the rotation given his performance the last six weeks, especially when you're still fighting for a division lead. Everytime he takes the mound, you're basically spotting the other team a four run lead out of the gate, minimum. Given how he's pitched in his first couple of innings as a starter, I can't imagine him being effective as a reliever, but it's probably no worse than Durbin, so shitcan him and have Carmona be the token BP gascan.

There was a period in 2006 that Carmona was an effective set up man prior to the closer fiasco. Maybe he can recapture that form and salvage his career. He better, because he's already had one ground up rebuild from this organization, and I can't see them putting him through another. He implodes every-fucking-time out now.
