Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I am very interested in trading for Paul George, but the one-year rental is truly terrifying. I wonder if the Cavs could do it without giving away a member of the big 3. It's not like Kevin Love fits into Indy's rebuild.

I've seen Blazers fans talking about Allen Crabbe for Love don't know anything about him, but how about Love to the Blazers, Shump, Frye, a Blazers pick and maybe Cedi to the Pacers, PG and Crabbe to the Cavs? Money works.

LeBron and PG would have to cover the 4 and they'd need to find another body at backup PF a but Irving, JR/Crabbe, PG, LeBron, TT would matchup well with the Warriors. Need to bring back DWill2

The Cavs actually drafted Crabbe back in 2013 and traded him to Portland on draft night. Coming out of college it looked like he'd be a good 3-and-D player, but he hasn't developed. He averaged 10.7ppg in 28.5 mpg this season. And he's actually a slightly below average defender. Crabbe is also set to make 19.5m (seriously, and Kyrie is set to make less than 19 next year) in 17–18. Portland fans are legitimately crazy if they think the Cavs would trade one of the 30 best players in the league for one who probably doesn't crack the top 100. Give us McCollum instead and there might be something on the table.

Love is gone... he doesn't fit in this offense and better to get rid of him while he's healthy. I've said it before the only two untouchables are Kyrie and Lebron (however if LBJ playing games again and someone was offering up something stupid good in return I wouldn't say no off the bat), everyone else can pack their bags and make sure they are flexible on their lease

IMO the Cavs are a year away from a rebuild if they can't move the needle next year. I don't know what better option LeBron has. Maybe get the banana boat crew to take minimum deals in LA. If he leaves I try to move everyone with value for future picks even Kyrie and hope they draft better. I don't give up anymore future firsts or else we'll be like the Nets.

I don't mind giving up Love in a deal that nets PG, but we also need another starting quality player. I'm not sure what the Pacers will take for PG before they decide to just ride out his contact and let him walk. Nobody is going to give them anything of value for a rental. Dream moves would get the Cavs Kyrie,JR,PG, LeBron, and Cousins. 4 all stars and a hard matchup for the Warriors. Lot of eggs in the 2017-18 basket.

They could probably easily turn around and flip Love to another team for Picks/Younger Players. Love is still under contract through 2019-2020, they'd have much more leverage picking him up and trading him than right now with PG where they have about zero leverage since it's known he is a 1 year rental.

Would be a bigger "win" for the Cavs than Paul George.

It would only be a win for the Cavs if we're talking Love for PG straight up. IMO the Cavs would need to work a 3rd team so they get PG and another starter for Love. Shump or TT need to be the key piece going to Indy or it isn't worth it for the Cavs. Love would need to move elsewhere for a player and pick(s). Not sure about Butler for Love. It would help, but probably not enough. Maybe if they could get buyout minimum deals for Melo and Wade to come of the bench.

Re: One league source told ESPN's Dave McMenamin, meanwhile, that the Cavaliers already have been offered George in a multi-team trade scenario that would cost them Love and involve an unnamed third team.

and

The Cavaliers are confident, McMenamin reported, that their championship culture could convince George to want to stay beyond the 2017-18 season despite George's well-chronicled desire to land with the Los Angeles Lakers as a 2018 free agent.

Getting Paul George and having him actually sign a multiyear contract to stay in Cleveland beyond next season.

lmao fuck Dan

Well, Griff is still employed by the Cavs until June 30th, so he might get the deal done anyway. In fact, if the parting of ways is really more about philosophy than money (i.e., Gilbert wanting to make a big splash, Griff wanting to tinker around the edges and keep the core in place), then Griff might actually like to give Gilbert exactly what he wants - a massive trade that potentially blows apart the franchise.
