Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

lots of smoke that the cavs might trade 4 and 24 to the bobcats for #2 so they can take Beal since Beal appears to be cementing himself as the #2 prospect in the draft after workouts.

cavs are also looking to use their 2nds, or a mix of this year's 2nds and next years (they have theirs and orlandos) to move back into the 1st.

none of this should be surprising since the cavs were obviously not going to bring 4 rookies in this offseason.

I really don't like the idea of giving up #24 to move up to #2. I think if the Bobcats were forced tio pick, they still would go TRob or Barnes, leaving trhe Cavs either Beal or MKG and still having pick 24. Either way that's a win in my book.

The Bobcats taking Beal at 2 is not the issue. Everyone feels the Wizards will take Beal at 3 after acquiring a highly paid small forward, and highly a paid "big" from the Hornets. If the Cavs think Beal is the next Duane Wade, make the trade. We may have 3 first rounders next year.

If the Cavs have Beal rated that much higher than anyone else on their board besides Davis, I don't know how you don't try and make that deal.

He's #2 on my board, but not by much over MKG and Barnes. There just isn't enough available information to determine how well he'll mesh with Kyrie. He played with a ballhog, chucker backcourt at Florida.

id be happy with either Beal of MKG so if we have to trade #24 to get Beal i say go for it...if we can do it and give up future draft picks i would be down for that too since this draft is pretty loaded on paper

BINGO!

#4 & #24 for #2 is a deal I would do every day and twice on Sunday. Who cares about #24. Plus those early 2nd rounders can easily get you back around #24 and/or throw in cash and maybe even higher.

the cavs have zero desire to bring in 4 rookies, and have basically stated such. they probably aren't all that fired up about another draft and stash in europe either since they have several guys over there now, and those type of deals almost never work out.

what they do have is a bevy of 2nd round picks this year and in future years at their disposal. there are usually a handful of teams in the 20's that don't want a guaranteed contract on the books for a pick, and roster flexibility, so they'd love to drop back to the 2nd. cleveland can easily offer one of their 2nds this year, and a 2nd next, or one of orlando's 2nds they have to move back up into the 1st. then, they'd still have 3 picks in this draft while securing the one guy they really want at the top.

I've been out of the loop for a few days now. So Beal has passed MKG as the second best player in the draft?

Sam Amick had a tweet that I'll have to dig up that said NBA execs feel that Davis and Beal are the only two perennial all starts at the top of this draft. the next 3 guys down robinson, mkg, barnes will be solid pros. but it appears that there is a solid top two forming now that workouts are complete.

Here it is:

All in all, they appear content with the level of talent -- maybe three and a half stars out of four if we're going movie-review style. But no one expects a bevy of future All-Stars. The execs I've spoken with mention Kentucky power forward Anthony Davis and Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal as the only players who seem bound for that status.

If the Cavs can move up to get Beal and they think he is a future All-Star it would be great. On the other hand if they feel that the Bobcats are going to take Barnes or Robinson at 2 I don't see a way that this ends badly for the Cavs. I don't know much about any of these players, but I wouldn't have a problem if MKG fell to the Cavs at 4 and they held onto the 24th pick to fill another hole. I know they probably don't want 4 picks, but this would be the year to have them. It would be great if a team wanted to dump a first rounder for 2 high second rounders so the Cavs could have 2-3 first rounders depending if they need to trade the 24 to move up for Beal.

it's basically been said that there is no way the cavs bring in 4 guys. you have to look outward to the future as well. the cavs have 2 1sts next year, and 2 2nds as they have orlando's 2nd next year. they also have the sacramento 1st sitting out there as well.

thy will either use those 2nds to move up or trade them for a young vet that's buried on another team's bench that can come in and be an immediate bench/role player.

also, in an interesting note, houston just traded chase buddinger for #18 overall, giving them 3 1sts. they are trying to make a play for dwight howard, or move up for drummond. if they can't swing either of those deals, they may kick the tires on AV.

Bobcats considering trading down from No. 2 slot

One intriguing potential trade partner for the Bobcats could be the Cleveland Cavaliers, who own picks No. 4 and 24.
If the Bobcats trade down it might allow them to acquire an outside shooter.
That's what Dunlap considers the team's most pressing need.
"The ability to make the three is important because it allows you to play inside the 3-point line," Dunlap said. "What happens is a defense collapses and it gets crowded in there. I would say that is safe to say that we need to do that. And we need to do a better job with our spacing, too. But as far as the roster goes it's always nice to have guys who can shoot a basketball."

Bobcats will probably wait till draft day before a move even happens to see what the best possible deal they could get for the #2 spot will be, but I hope to god this happens so we can land Beal...and if we only have to give up #24 to do it? sign me up
