Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Lost in LeBron's epic performance...Kyrie turned in a remarkable postseason...

25.2 ppg
.475 FG%
.440 3P%
.875 FT%
1.7 SPG
4.7 APG

Huge performance in the three finals elimination games, hits the game winning shot in Game 7. That's BIG TIME. He was the second best player on that court. He ain't LeBron's "Pippen", he's his "1b."

Not lost at all. I was begging them to get him the rock down the stretch. (Because I didn't feel like they could stop him at the rim... and then he knocks down that 3. Jesus.)

He had to be big time. All of them did.

Really, the only way I could rationalize any hope after game 4, other than how things laid out without Green and the home game, you still had this game 7 in Oakland staring you down at the end... but, the only thing I could think is, maybe they can pull it off because its impossible. It just felt like it HAD to be this hard. I mean, this isn't Leicester City or anything, the Cavs do have LeBron James, but, if you looked at the stats projections through each game, I think they were at still only at like 7% to win after game 5. (Theoretically, they, based on history, had 0% chance to win the series after game 4)

Simply amazing.

That's rich, coming from someone who claimed the Cavs were in the middle of an "epic meltdown" against the Raptors.

Love had a solid overall game last night and certainly played good defense at times. I guess we we'll have to disagree on whether that, and averaging 8.5 ppg and 6.8 rpg in the Finals, justifies his hefty contract. Last thing I'll mention is that you should take a stroll through pages 463-65 of this thread; as I said before, there are plenty of others around here with whom you will disagree.
A lot of people are giving Love credit for guarding Curry one-on-one in the final minute... but doesn't it make it worse that he is clearly capable of playing solid D and hustling as that sequence demonstrated, but apparently chooses not to most of the time?

His defense was a well-known weakness when they brought him in. He was obviously going balls-out, to his credit, in that possession with so much on the line...so it would be unrealistic to expect that kind of effort all the time. It's not unlike Francisco Cabrera knocking a game-winning hit for Atlanta vs. the Pirates years ago. Or any number of other players who played well-above their abilities in crunch time situations. I know his defense sucks, and don't hold that against him...it's who he is. Personally, my biggest issue with him the whole time he's been in Cleveland has been the disappearing act he's pulled on offense (this series included) when that's what he was brought in for. He was called by many a "top-10" player in this league, because he had the ability to put up 25-12 a game. That's been a rarity, and too many times, he has been flat-out awful offensively. He's a 15-9 guy now...which wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't making so much money and struggling to shoot 40% most games. But, for that effort alone, I will get off his back. That effort was sensational...and it was during the biggest possession in franchise history.

LeBron doesn't win this without Kyrie. Contrary to popular mythology, Jordan doesn't win 6 in Chicago without Pippen either.
