Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Why don't the Cavs go after Gasol? If they could pick up Lebron and Gasol that team could be a contender.
Irving / Wiggins / LeBron / TT / Gasol

It's one of those things the Cavs are in a holding pattern. They are frozen until Lebron makes his decision. Gasol and many other role players probably wouldn't talk to the Cavs unless Lebron signs. Ray Allen is another player that is said to try to follow Lebron wherever he goes.

Cuz once Lebron signs, the Cavs are capped out, but I would believe we would have a midlevel exception and some trade options out there. I am sure Lebron has been told what the Cavs would look to do.

That is the beauty of the Cavs position. They have TONS of assets and the willingness to spend money. Something I believe Lebron appreciates after the Heat cheaped out this past season.

IF and WHEN LBJ signs, the dominos will start to fall quickly of who stays with the Cavs and who gets traded (won't speculate who goes where and for who). As long as the Cavs keep, besides KI, Wiggins, Waiters, AV, and Zeller, they can be pretty creative with current players and draft picks to add another star to the team. Also, it would not surprise me at all if Andy's contract is restructured to keep him with the team but with a friendlier contract.

starting to believe in lebron coming home. not sure if it will be this summer or opting out next summer, but this is happening. that or i am fully ready to be clevelanded and dissappointed in sports somehow still after all this crap.

my lebron bobblehead has been standing and facing the corner ever since the decision. i refuse to dust him or allow him to be dusted too.

starting to think i need to find an animated gif of the dust mop in action for celebratory purposes.

Do you guys think LeBron owes it to Cleveland to put to rest this speculation if he's not coming back?

I don't think so. I think Cleveland fans owe it to themselves not to get too sucked in. All of the Cleveland "momentum" is media created. Nothing has come from LeBron's camp. I thought 2010 was a disgrace because of his dog and pony show on e!spn. He seems to be taking a hands-off approach this time, and I think it's the right way to go.

To add this comment: His 2010 free agency was a shit show even in the months and years leading up to that summer, while he was still under contract with the Cavs. The ESPN infomercial was just the cherry on top. I hate that people have talked themselves into thinking that the ESPN infomercial was the only thing he did to hurt the Cavs and its fans back then.

I'm not a fan of Lebron after his fiasco in 2010, but he isn't doing anything wrong this time. He's keeping quiet and not really saying anything. That's how every player should do it. If the media wants to make a circus out of it, there's not much he can do to prevent it without explicitly stating who he's signing with.

I also think that when he does re-sign with the Heat there will be plenty of people who blame him for not at least ruling out Cleveland as an option. From a business standpoint though he can't do that. It's the best leverage he has to get what he wants out of Miami. I don't think anybody really believes he would take his talents to a third franchise at this point in his career because it would damage the legacy that he's trying to build.

THIS!! I think he is going about the process the right way. Allowing his agent (who gets paid quite nicely I might add) to hear the sales pitch by each organization, then agent shares the information, LBJ discusses the pros and cons with agent and makes an informed decision when it is appropriate for him. He lets Pat Riley and the Heat know face-to-face what his intentions are, then informs other organizations what his intentions are directly and then signs with which ever organization he chooses and THEN holds a press conference. Much more professional about it this go around...so far.
