Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I don't think so. I think Cleveland fans owe it to themselves not to get too sucked in. All of the Cleveland "momentum" is media created. Nothing has come from LeBron's camp. I thought 2010 was a disgrace because of his dog and pony show on e!spn. He seems to be taking a hands-off approach this time, and I think it's the right way to go.

I agree, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

BUT, the Cleveland momentum, while it is media created, it is fueled by LeBron's camp. Not Lebron himself, or Maverick or Paul. But THEIR friends. That is where it is coming from. It is the outer circle of Lebron's friends and family that are talking to the local media saying he is coming back. That is why you had a report that his agent is pushing Cleveland... his family is pushing Cleveland... his friends are pushing Cleveland.

Rich Paul is 100% pushing cleveland. That's why this whole twitter war has become quite the sideshow. everyone in lebron's camp is pushing cleveland, and that's not really a big secret. but the lebron camp is talking to anyone. all the wojo yahoo tweets are coming straight from the miami camp, which is why you saw the mini twitter war the other day.

I also think that when he does re-sign with the Heat there will be plenty of people who blame him for not at least ruling out Cleveland as an option. From a business standpoint though he can't do that. It's the best leverage he has to get what he wants out of Miami. I don't think anybody really believes he would take his talents to a third franchise at this point in his career because it would damage the legacy that he's trying to build.

I have always thought it would come down to the Cavs and the Heat. But the Heat hasn't done anything to make the team better (Granger and McRoberts) are not earth shattering signings and doesn't make the team any better. What the Cavs have right now with a new coach, KI, Wiggins, etc. has to be more enticing even though some of the assets are unproven. Could he sign with the Heat for a 1-yr MAX and then sign with the Cavs next year to see how this year goes? Sure. However, I don't think he will do that. At this point, the Heat are a weak team. Wade's health is not improving; Bosh needs a big pay day before retirement and Houston has the best offer on the table in addition to being more attractive to winning with Howard and Harden; and the rest of the team is either old, injury prone or retreads. In my opinion, the Cavs seem like the best option LONG TERM for LBJ.

I'm not a fan of Lebron after his fiasco in 2010, but he isn't doing anything wrong this time. He's keeping quiet and not really saying anything. That's how every player should do it. If the media wants to make a circus out of it, there's not much he can do to prevent it without explicitly stating who he's signing with.
Agreed.

This guy is making what will be the last remaining decision that dictates the rest of his legacy as a basketball player. He's 29, going on 30, and in what has to be his prime as a skill player- the next 3-4 years has to net him a couple more rings, at least. And he knows that. Surprisingly, after its initial immaturity, the move to Miami has definitely seen LeBron become more of a man. He's owned up to a lot more. He's matured on the court. He's raised a family. And he's won.

He's taking his time with the process. Will see if he chooses the right path (I don't know what the right one is).

To me there could be a couple right paths. If he wants titles the next couple years go back to the Heat or Rockets. If he's looking at the next 5-6 years the Cavs are the best option. They have so much young talent that they could take him through the rest of his career winning the most titles. It might be the biggest risk since they are the most unproven. If he comes back he can play the keeping a promise angle that no one would fault him for. It's now or never for the Cavs since their cap will be maxed out after this summer. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a 2 year opt out with any deal.

I think that's an interesting point, too.

Considering he just got done with 4 straight Finals appearances, I feel like he needs to be around just enough guys that have been-there-done-that to feel secure in his decision. That's why I think returning to Cleveland would actually be a really ballsy move, taking on that ready-to-be-THE-man role. Yes, this team is young and oozing with talent as it stands...but they've also never even sniffed the playoffs or the level that is required to win playoff basketball.

The Heat are not the path to more immediate titles, unless Pat Riley has some kind of salary cap voodoo that we don't know about. Even if Bosh walks, they're probably looking at signing somebody like Ariza, or best case an aging Pau Gasol, neither of whom are a significant upgrade over the gay dinosaur. Wade can only contribute for 2/3 of the season, and even when he plays, he's a shell of his former self offensively, and a liability defensively. He's an All Star in name only anymore. They got three good years out of their "Big Three", but they're not three elite players anymore. The Western Conference powers are better teams than the Heat.

There really is no sure thing. If he signs with Houston, Harden and Howard make a nice "Big 3", but then they fall into the same issue of having to scrape together the rest of the roster from the scrap heap. Phoenix might be intriguing, but I don't think they're any better bet than the Cavs young roster. Looking at this from a strictly "best bet" of the teams mentioned, I'd say the Cavs have to be the most attractive option from a roster standpoint, and the added "redemption" angle. That said, it all seems too perfect, and I still don't think he's coming back to Cleveland.

Nobody was talking about Miami until the couple days leading up to him "taking his talents to south beach." I wouldn't be surprised at all if another team emerges somehow and he goes there.

Agreed on all counts. If he wants to continue to be buddies with Wade and Bosh and that causes him to go back to Miami, that's one (albeit inexplicable) thing. But the notion that going back to Miami gives him a good shot at winning titles is ridiculous.

Report: LeBron James considering only Heat and Cavaliers
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....to-heat-cavaliers/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs

LeBron James’ agent has met with the Lakers,Cavaliers, Rockets, Suns and Mavericks. At least one member of the 76ers is trying to lure LeBron, too.

Of course, LeBron’s current team, the Heat, is also in the mix.

But LeBron might have already thinned the field.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, appearing on Fox Sports Live:

By every source I have, there are just two considerations at this point — and that’s Cleveland and staying in Miami.
