Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I feel like this Embiid vs Wiggins discussion is very similar to the Oden vs Durant from the '07 Draft. Center with huge ceiling and injury questions vs Wing who can fill it up in buckets but isnt aggressive at times... I know i'm gonna get roasted for over simplifying things but... it feels like the same situation.

I was thinking the same thing. Durant was also considered too skinny to cope with the NBA.

It seems like the right comparrison, but I think Oden/Embiid are different type of injury risks. And that can make a world of difference. Embiid 'says' his back is 100%. It will really come down to the medical investation on him. Kansas never really said what was wrong with his back, did they? For all we know Embiid could have had a minor back injury and just didn't want to come back knowing he was going to the NBA?

Definetly different types of injuries. Oden = multiple micro-fracture surgeries; Embiid = back "injury". BUT, when your "BIGS" start having back issues (especially at 19 years old) that is not a good sign. Plus, Embiid saying his back is "100%" doesn't mean his back is physically, medically, or otherwise "100%". When the docs give him the "100%", then and only then will I be convinced.

With that said, still would rather have Wiggins or Parker, then add a couple of BIGS in FA (Monroe, Gorat and/or Hawes) OR via trade (Cousins).

Here's my thing about the Embiid injury. Yeah, there is a slight chance it could crop up later, but it sounds more likely to not be an issue. That being said, if this was last year's draft without a good alternate pick, you take Embiid without a thought. This year, a prospect like Wiggins makes me think much differently. Hell, I might take Wiggins even if Embiid had no history of injury.

The Cavs health evals on Embiid will be key, but I'm on the Wiggins bandwagon right now.

This thread is greatly lacking in..... BANNERS
fortunately for cleveland fans, so are the browns

i gotta say, if the cavs were to somehow bring lebron back along with last year's team and the #1 pick, we are the one seed in the east for the foreseeable future.

lebron's best chance to beat MJ's 6 rings and shoot for the 7 rings of the legend Robert Horry or Bill Russell's 11 is in Cleveland.

if it were to happen, well worth the frustration of the past few years and The Decision.

i might even take my lebron bobblehead out of the corner behind the TV where he has sat since the decision like a kid sitting in the corner for getting in trouble. might need a spot for the manziel promotional i am sure to get this year . . . .

Based on his RR's breakdown alone, its between Embiid and Parker. Brought up some interesting points on Wiggins that wasn't mentioned before (that I saw). If Embiid is healthy, he is the pick, IMO.

Im really hoping Embiid's health is okay. If so, Cavs should definitely take him #1.
A Young PG and C are great building blocks for the future. Im not a fan of trading to rent a veteran.

I think Lebron would come back to join Kyrie and a healthy Embiid.
if not...kyrie and embiid would still be a dynamic pair and get the cavs playoff bound.

I think Wiggins has too much hype. Hes good but he wont be KD.

EMBIID #1

quitness? I was ticked off when he left too, but from what I can recall...He left as a free agent.
He played out his (extended) contract and created a lot of great memories for cavs fans.
You can be bitter and hate him for life...
or forgive him for taking an obviously much better path for himself to accomplish his dreams.
I'll take the latter and move forward.
Regardless of Lebron, I hope Embiid is healthy and the Cavs draft him.

He quit in that final Boston series, thus, Quitness. I can't begrudge him leaving as a FA. I'm over "the Decision" debacle...he's admitted it was foolish. But, quitting on your team because you're about to bolt as a FA is horseshit, and I'll always hold that against him.
