Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

The Nets are going to be a beautiful disaster next year. They're setting up like a generic version of the 2005 Lakers (when they brought in Payton & Malone), only they lack a Kobe or a Shaq. Plus a rookie coach. An old roster, trying to mesh big personalities. They have a miniscule window, like one year, and how many "super teams" mesh in their first year? I can only think of the Celtics a few years back, and they were much younger and much more talented. That team is old as dirt.

My guess is those guys can mesh by the end of the year, and be a very good team.

Great statement by Bynum:

Andrew Bynum says he is on schedule for return… but doesn’t know schedule

As of right now he is on schedule… even though he has no idea what that schedule may be.

“It’s a fluid process,” Bynum said. “I have no idea what the schedule’s going to be for me. But I’m doing everything I can to be ready. I think with the program that has been made up, we have a good chance.

“I’m optimistic I’m where I should be. Obviously, I want to be playing. But I’m taking baby steps, doing what the team and the doctors tell me. I’m doing my part. I come to work every day. I’m moving in the right direction.”

He is a large man that has had multiple knee procedures. Baby steps are fine, its september. From everything I have read he has been in Cleveland since he signed working with the team and doctors a lot, at this point that is all you can ask from him.

I miss my old favorite smiliey :p. I was joking about the baby steps. I don't want Bynum to play more than 20-25 minutes a game until the spring. The Cavs have enough depth at the 5 to work Bynum and Andy back into the mix slowly to try to keep them both healthy. If the Cavs can make it to the post season with Bynum and Andy as close to 100% as they are currently capable and improvement across the board with the young core they will be a hard out.

NBA Report: Cavs' Bynum still not quite ready for action

Training camps open in less than two weeks, and Cleveland is looking at opening without their star offseason acquisition. But don't panic, Andrew Bynum fans. No one expected the 7-footer to sprint at the start. Not after missing all of last season in Philadelphia with knee issues. The Cavs haven't set a specific timetable for Bynum's return to actual game action -- but they do have a plan. It's to make sure Bynum is completely healthy before he ever puts on a uniform. In other words, the Cavs won't rush him back just to quash any sort of fan anxiety. ... One source familiar with Bynum's progress told FOX Sports Ohio that Bynum is nowhere near ready and is likely to miss the entire preseason. He could, however, give it a go early in the regular season, if not for the opener Oct. 30 vs. the Brooklyn Nets.

I like that they aren't rushing Bynum, but with 6 mil on the line I think he is going to do everything he can to make sure he hits what he needs to in order to get the whole salary. That's where everything fell apart in Philly. Bynum had no incentive to step on the floor since he was getting paid either way. That also doesn't say much for anyone ever giving him a long term guaranteed deal. Looking at it from the other side the Cavs would be smart to bring Bynum along slowly to make sure he gets as healthy as possible and maybe miss some of the numbers that would take his salary up to 12 mil.

With Andy cleared and Zeller on the bench there is no need for any of them to play more than 20-25 minutes a game until this spring.

The only stipulation to get the other 6 million is that he be on the team after a certain day. I think that date is sometime in January.
