Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Back when Lebron came in they got too good too fast and screwed up their one top 10 draft pick while Lebron was here. If not for the idiocy of "The Decision" I could almost believe that the plan all along was for Lebron to leave for a few years so the Cavs could build through the draft for his return. He handled leaving completely the wrong way which is why I see there being no chance that he comes back. He will have his choice of NBA teams next summer and I don't see him humbling himself to come back to Cleveland and deal with the fans.

That in the end was the problem with getting Lebron... he improved a horrible team to near playoff team by the next season and put our draft picks into purgetory (the 10-15 range). If we had sucked one more season and got a Top 5 pick then things might have changed. We had to use free agency and that is a horrible way to find a #2.

The one good thing with Kyrie being hurt his first two seasons is it allowed us to suck enough to get Top 5 picks versus picks in the 10-14 range.

the real problem was the prior regime let boozer walk away for nothing, and squandered future 1st round picks on horrible trades. then the silas regime blew their draft pick on a kid they thought was ready to play right away to appease lebron. what happened in 2005 free agency and thereafter is well documented.

what should really be taken away from all of this is the fact that the cavs 3 free agent signings have all come out and said that mike brown is one of the driving reasons why they picked cleveland. you could say that bynum had little choice and earl clark got paid, but Jack could have went a lot of different places.

I don't think it would take long for the fans to welcome him back. There would be far more fans happy to have them back than there would be pissed at him. I still can't stand him but I'd gladly take him back.

The arrogant Lakers think they have him locked up but aside from Showtime and 'celebrities', their team is trending way down. They should be good enough to make the playoffs in '14, but their pick will be in the high teens to low 20's. They have no first to use in the '15 or '17 drafts. I really can't see Lebron wanting to play with Kobe. They may put on the act, but they're both jealous of the other.

The Knicks are just stupid.

If Bynum wanted to go someplace else he could have, he just wouldn't have gotten as much guaranteed money. I'm sure the only thing he cared about was money, which was why the other teams didn't even offer after they found out what they'd have to beat.

With Bynum, Andy and Zeller they should be able to spread out minutes enough to hopefully keep them healthy. I'd love to make it through the season with Bynum and Andy averaging around 20 minutes a game with Zeller and Thompson taking the extra minutes at the 5.

The goal should be to get to the playoffs with everyone healthy and go from there. Seeds don't matter as much as health. I'll gladly take an 8-1 matchup with the Heat if you give me a healthy Cavs roster for the series.

Doubt it - expectations are for him to wind up in Miami at this point. Oden/Varejao/Bynum is a little too risky and we already are stacked in the post.

My money is on Dallas or San Antonio. Miami probably lost a lot of interest after Birdman played so strong for them. I think the linked rumors to Miami are a result of their prior interest in him.

Oden makes a lot of sense in San Antonio. He'd be a good big off the bench to spell Tiago Splitter and Popovich is probably the best fit for any player looking to ease his way back into the game.

Dallas is looking for any spark for their franchise and refuses to throw the towel in. Oden doesn't make a lot of sense from what he can offer that franchise, but Cuban seems desperate.

So AK47 is either an idiot for opting out of his contract or getting a huge under the table bonus in Russia for signing with the Nets. I would guess $7 mil buys a lot of house in Russia.
The Nets are going to be a beautiful disaster next year. They're setting up like a generic version of the 2005 Lakers (when they brought in Payton & Malone), only they lack a Kobe or a Shaq. Plus a rookie coach. An old roster, trying to mesh big personalities. They have a miniscule window, like one year, and how many "super teams" mesh in their first year? I can only think of the Celtics a few years back, and they were much younger and much more talented. That team is old as dirt.

It's possible, but also AK47 is ridiculously rich and the chance to play in Brooklyn for Gorbachov or whomever owns the Nets is alot better than playing in Minnesota and looking at Ricky Rubio's hair. At least, I'd presume that's his thinking.

Nets have been criticized for the team they have constructed, but I think it will give Miami a lot of problems.

PG - Deron Williams (coming off a mediocre year by his standards but still a top shelf PG in the league)
SG - Joe Johnson - Great shooter, also coming off a below average year. A lot of people think Gerald Wallace hampered his ability to get open on the perimeter
SF - Paul Pierce - Guy is a stat stuffer and still shoots well. Will space court for Williams and Johnson in ways Gerald Wallace could not.
PF - Kevin Garnett - One of the smartest players in the league and still a willing defender and rebounder. Also still a very good mid-range shooter. Will bring toughness to that franchise.
C - Brook Lopez - You can't teach his size. While not as dominant as most thought he could be, he's still 7 feet, mobile, a good finisher, albeit a bit soft. He's a match-up problem for 75% of the league still.

And their bench went from an embarrassment to an upper-echelon unit overnight. AK-47, Jason Terry, Reggie Evans, Shaun Livingston, and Mason Plumlee is a solid second squad.

They seem to have everything you'd want (shooting, defense, veterans who have been through the fire). I think the Jason Kidd hire is a bit odd but having that many leaders and solid pros will definitely help.

Or his family isn't randomly going to disappear now.

the best $100 million #4 seed ever assembled.

Only because they won't be playing for seeding. I imagine they'll put rest for the playoffs above all else.

That isn't a team that will roll over in the playoffs though. On paper, it looks like a team that would create a ton of issues for Miami.
