Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

From a sports talk show in Denver two guys were saying that Baker and Stefanski really do not care for each other. Baker wants to play the way he played in college and under Freddie (wild wild West style) while KS wants to play with his 3 TEs. I guess I can see it but what difference does it make until after next year when a decent college QB might be available because there sure as hell is not available in the NFL or college this year.

I'd be pissed if he committed to Baker. Baker did absolutely nothing this year to earn anything.

A bunch of us have said it, but Minshew is Baker Mayfield minus the stupid high school bullshit and INTs. I just want to think the Browns have a chance in the 4th in a close game. With Baker, it's a guaranteed INT. Minshew would be cheap and could run the offense until the team gets a higher-end starter (lol that's not going to happen, ever).

Browns' Kevin Stefanski expects Baker Mayfield to 'bounce back' next season

Mayfield completed 60.5% of his passes for 3,010 passing yards, a career-low 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions

Baker Mayfield is expected to return to the Cleveland Browns next season, and head coach Kevin Stefanski believes the former No. 1 overall pick will return to form in 2022.

"I fully expect him to bounce back next year," Stefanski said, via ESPN.

Mayfield, who dealt with a handful of injuries this year, completed 60.5% of his passes for 3,010 passing yards, a career-low 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Browns went 6-8 in Mayfield’s starts, and he missed two games due to injury and one because he was on the COVID-19 list.

OK, who is on the Cleveland Brown bus and thinks Mayfield will bounce back in 2022?

Imagine if John Dorsey had drafted this guy instead of Captain Clownshow.....

SIR! Why are you such a bAkEr BaShEr ?!?!

Levity aside, I can't fault Dorsey. Josh Allen is one of the incredibly rare examples of mental development and coaching to matching physical gifts. Don't forget, Josh was one of the worst QB's in the NFL his first couple seasons. Like... probably would have been moved on from after 2 years in Cleveland bad.

The Bill's tried the whole "big, strong AFCN QB" Cliche' and ended up being equal parts lucky with equal parts patient yet dedicated coaching.

They tried it before with EJ Manuel and failed. Tried it with JP Losman and failed.

Same can be said for the Browns and the same strategy.

- Brady Quinn failed
- Derek Anderson failed (paid him well)
- Brandon Weeden failed
- Deshone Kizer failed

The only reason I'm not including Manziel is because he was hyped as the undersized "exciting playmaker" type QB and not the Big Ben type prototypcial built QBs the Browns whiffed on before and after. Obviously Manziel was equally as stupid a pick, because ultimately none of those QBs had a command and dedication to the mental side of the position.

Josh Allen's Wyoming tape is.... not good. Which is exactly why I first referenced luck over coaching. Bills lucked out where they and Cleveland had previously failed.

A lot of what you say about Allen is true, but Allen was always a high risk, high reward prospect ... while Baker was always a high risk, low reward prospect.

A really strange move by Dorsey to go with Baker over Allen ... especially after he hit a grand slam with a high risk, high reward guy (Mahomes) in Kansas City.

EDIT: The irony is, the Browns don't even need a Josh Allen to be a Super Bowl contender, they just need a QB who isn't trash. Someone like Derek Carr or Jimmy Garoppolo, for example.

I told my wife last night I would be fine with Carr as the Browns QB.
