Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Yep, and of course everything will probably work out for Pukesburgh to get in the playoffs for Big Bens last hurrah

Totally mixed bag -

  • Literally everyone in Columbus seems to be a Bengals fan all of a sudden
  • Burrow looks like a legit star and that's awesome
  • The Browns completely collapsed under expectations
  • But won their last game to fuck up the draft position
  • The Ratbirds lost 6 in a row to miss the playoffs entirely
  • The Squeelers will probably get in
You win some...you lose some.

I don't think they'll be taking a QB in round one this year. And probably, if Mayfield is the QB, they will probably take a WR in he first round (unless a DE they really think is a good value falls to them), if Mayfield isn't the QB, they probably don't have a 1st round pick anymore.

My guess is, he probably is, just because they'll have 18 million sunk into it. I think the real issue is -- and of course this is amplifying Mary Kay Cabbage's dumbass article where she's channeling her inner Tony Grossi so I hate to do that -- they need to decide what kind of a QB Mayfield is when healthy. My opinion is, that he's a point guard and they have to move the pocket some, and they have to protect him in such a way that he can get his feet set and change the throwing angles in the pocket. But the reality is, its gonna, at its best look pretty gadgety.

And I think they think they have gadgety personnel, though they did some good (and bad) stuff today... why are Felton and Schwartz taking up 2 roster spots? I get there's a good chance Landry isn't back (I say that without looking up the cap hit, so if that's big number, maybe he is) but they need WR's who catch the ball, and help their QB out once in a while. Higgins apparently can't do that anymore (because he basically can't get open) There's basically 3 guys who can't do anything DPJ can't. So, Landry or not, they still need guys who can catch the ball.

Wonder if we select best QB or WR available in round 1

I don't think this is a good year to draft a QB, but there is going to be at least 1 really good WR at their pick and they need it desperately. I think they'll give Baker every chance to turn it around next year, but they will also go into the season with a viable option to replace him if they make it 5-6 games into the season with no improvement. The only way Baker isn't the QB is if they get the deal of a lifetime on a can't miss vet like Rogers. There will have to be a QB on the market that might not have worked out at his first stop but still has first round potential kind of like Tannehill to the Titans. Given the shitty coaching situation in Chicago I'm thinking Trubisky might be a good option.
